Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Verry Elleegant Stakes Day

Nash Rawiller pulled off another tactical masterpiece aboard now three-time Group 1 winner Think It Over, who again was brave to score in the Verry Elleegant Stakes (1600m).

The feature race was run at genuine tempo, with Punter's Intelligence recording the leader Just Fine running the first 1000m in 1:00.28.

Think It Over travelled well throughout before saving all the ground on the final turn and came underneath all his rivals.

Further, he shot clear, sprinting a sharp 11.16 between the 400m-200m and made his way to the superior ground.

To his credit, he maintained a strong finishing speed to the line and held off the late challenge.

Fangirl was all the rage, starting a $1.30 in the market, but she had too much to do and should lose no admirers.

The mare got too far back, had to make a long-wide sustained run and made up significant ground with her effort having sectional merit.

She flashed home into second and recorded one of the meetings fastest final 400m/200m splits in 22.49/11.49. Expect her to bounce back third-up.

Lindermann was honest in defeat, and Cascadian is ticking over well and hit the line solidly, running the second fastest final 600m of the race in 34.03.

Tropical Squall was giving away a fitness advantage in the Group 1 Surround Stakes (1400m), but she was too tough for her rivals.

The filly controlled the speed, leading at a very slow pace, then kicked clear, running a fast 600m-200m split in 22.25, and kept fighting when challenged over the final stages.

She can only improve off this effort and set a strong platform for this campaign.

Stefi Magnetica tried hard in defeat and just missed after running the race's fastest final 600m in 33.73.

Tutta La Vita returned well, clocked the race's quickest final 200m in 11.50 and is suited over more ground.

Expect Roll On High to improve sharply next start after having the pace/bias against her, and she held her action, finding the line well.

She always indicated she would come back improved in her second prep, and she ran a solid final 600m in 33.82.

Storm Boy lived up to his highly anticipated return off the 49-day break, and he dominated his rivals to win the Group 2 Skyline Stakes (1200m) and ran solid time relative to the day after adjustments.

He clocked 1:09.98 for his overall time, approximately 2.5 lengths quicker than a direct comparison of the Group 2 Sweet Embrace Stakes (1200m) won by Mannal.

Although running time, all the merit was in the backend of the cock, and he clocked 33.99 for his final 600m.

He is proven in all conditions, handles all race shapes, brings a dominant ratings profile and deserves favouritism in the upcoming Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m).

Prost hit the line hard, running the race quickest final 200m in 11.49, and Parkour ran the race quickest 600m-200m in 22.28 before peaking on his run.

Pereille was a sectional star in the Benchmark 88 event over 1200m and ran on hard after having the race shape against.

He is in career-best form and clocked the meeting's fastest 600m/400m/200m splits in 32.86/21.97/11.35.

Both New Energy and Kovalica, who were resuming, produced flashing light runs in the Group 3 Liverpool City Cup (1300m).

It was a high-pressure race, with Irish import New Energy savaging the line to run 11.51 for his final 200m, the race's quickest.

Kovalica ran 33.67 for his final 600m, and his profile suggests he can step significantly next start.

Fastest last 600m: Perielle 32.86
