Waterhouse/Bott Favourite The One To Beat In Wyong Feature

By Gary Harley

It’s Magic Millions Day at Wyong on Wednesday and Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott will saddle up the favourites in the $200,000 Magic Millions 2-year-old Classic and the $100,000 Magic Millions 3 & 4-year-old stakes.

The partnership will be represented by Command Approved ($3.80 favourite on TAB) and Speak Now ($14) in the 2YO Classic.

Command Approved won two barrier trials before he led all the way in his only start at Canberra on November 26. He ran about in the closing stages but was too classy.

Speak Now chased home Command Approved at Canberra but was three quarters of a length from the winner. Waterhouse has won three Wyong Magic Millions Classics in her own right with Pulsator (2005), She’s Meaner (2008) and Bright Expectations (2009).

The Waterhouse Bott partnership has won two of the Wyong Classics with Unite And Conquer (2018) and Farnan (2019). The main threats to the favourite are the John O’Shea-trained colt Hell I Am ($4.40) and the Snowdens' filly Miss Hellfire ($4.80) both impressive barrier trial winners.

The Waterhouse/Bott partnership has the $2.80 favourite Snitzonfire in the 3 & 4YO stakes. Snitzonfire has won three from four and he has speed to burn.

In October he won at Rosehill and on the Kensington Track. He was only beaten a length first-up at Rosehill on December 4 and he wears blinkers for the first time on Wednesday.

$4 chances Wisdom Of Water and Head Legislator will both run well.

RACE 1, MAINSTREAM FINANCE SERVICES BM 68, 1600M: Highly Desired ($2 fav) is well placed on his best form and he will probably lead. He finished fifth in the recent Mudgee Cup an he was only beaten a length at Canterbury two starts back. He has the benefit of a 2kg claim. Do This All Day ($5) is second-up but can improve while Dodecanese ($3.90) went well last start.
SELECTIONS: 1 HIGHLY DESIRED, 2 DO THIS ALL DAY, 7 DODECANESE

RACE 2, MAINSTREAM TAXATION & ACCOUNTANCY SERVICES BM 64, 2100M: Apache Belle’s ($3.80) close second at Warwick Farm on December 8 was an eye-catcher. She was only beaten a length at Hawkesbury three runs back. The small field is ideal and she has a soft draw. Viren ($2.50 fav) has been placed on the Kensington Track and Rosehill in his past two starts and he has a 2kg claim. Scorched Land ($5.50) is racing consistently.
SELECTIONS: 2 APACHE BELLE, 1 VIREN, 3 SCORCHED LAND

RACE 3, MAGIC MILLIONS 2022 GOLD COAST YEARLING SALE MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1350M: El Nido ($3.90) was heavily backed when a close fourth on this track on debut on November 25. The mare made up many lengths from a long way back and she will appreciate the longer trip. Auzstar ($3.80 fav) led last start but he is a better proposition when ridden off the pace. Harapan ($5) failed first-up on the heavy track but he will improve on the firmer track.
SELECTIONS: 2 EL NIDO, 5 AUZSTAR, 1 HARAPAN

RACE 4, MAGIC MILLIONS 3 & 4-YEAR-OLD STAKES: Snitzonfire ($2.80 fav) has a good record and he is the one to beat. He is a front-runner with three wins from four starts. He was only beaten a length first-up at Rosehill recently and he wears blinkers for the first time. Wisdom Of Water ($4) is racing well and Head Legislator ($4) won two on the trot before a spell.
SELECTIONS: 6 SNITZONFIRE, 3 WISDOM OF WATER, 1 HEAD LEGISLATOR

RACE 5, EXALTED CONSTRUCTIONS CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1600M: El Parmy ($4.20 fav) broke through for his first win at Canterbury last start. He chased home the speedy For Valour three runs back at Hawkesbury. The Wyong mile is suitable and he may lead. Bedford Square ($4.60) has a win and two seconds from three starts on this track and she won well here last start. Rock The Bells ($6) will be fitter after a placing first-up.
SELECTIONS: 1 EL PARMY, 4 BEDFORD SQUARE, 2 ROCK THE BELLS

RACE 6, MAGIC MILLIONS 2YO CLASSIC, 1100M: Hell I Am ($4.20) faces the starter for the first time after a smart all the way trial win at Canterbury. He was strong at the end of the 900m trial and he has drawn okay. Bowman rode him in the trial and he has the mount on Wednesday. Command Approved ($3.80 fav) is quick and was able to win his only start at Canberra after shifting out late. The filly Miss Hellfire ($4.80) has won two trials and has genuine speed.
SELECTIONS: 2 HELL I AM, 1 COMMAND APPROVED, 12 MISS HELLFIRE

RACE 7, WYONG’S NEXT RACE MEETING JANUARY 8 BM 64, 1100M: Rita May ($5) is talented and she has excelled in both starts to date. The filly was run down late on debut at Gosford on November 20 and then ran the opposition off their legs to win a 900m event at Newcastle. Toto ($7.50) is knocking on the door after two luckless runs this time in. Tudor Music ($5.50) has a chance from the soft draw.
SELECTIONS: 14 RITA MAY, 1 TOTO, 5 TUDOR MUSIC
