Trainer Confident $6.50 Chance Will Go Close (Kembla Today)

Local mare Spinpix ($6.50 on TAB) can be 'unpredictable' but trainer Diane Poidevin-Lane has her racing in top form again and hopes she can continue in the same vein at Kembla Grange today.

Poidevin-Lane, who part owns Spinpix with her daughter Brittany, will chase consecutive home track victories with her talented mare in the Kiama Benchmark 68 Handicap (2000m).

Spinpix was given to Poidevin-Lane by a client to train after previously racing for Tony Gollan as well as Ciaron Maher and David Eustace.

Poidevin-Lane and her daughter took over the ownership themselves in more recent times and have had the daughter of Pierro racing consistently this preparation until finally breaking through at her last start.

Spinpix was a placegetter on five occasions this time in before finally taking home the winning cheque with a strong victory over the same track and trip last start on April 4.

"It was very good to see her win," Poidevin-Lane said.

"Brittany and I were very pleased because we were waiting and waiting and kept thinking she was a chance.

"She poked her nose out in front."

Spinpix is a $6.50 chance to double the dose on home turf with Keagan Latham continuing his association with the seven-year-old after combining for victory last time.

Latham should be able to find a favourable position in running from barrier six with Spinpix continuing to impress in the lead up to her latest assignment.

"If she does the same as she did last time, we are fairly confident she can go close," Poidevin-Lane said. "She has done everything right since that last run.

"There are only nine horses in it and she has been racing against some pretty handy horses to which have gone on to other places and won so that's a good thing. The form around her is pretty good."

Poidevin-Lane only keeps a small team of four or five in her stable but will welcome back another of her talented gallopers, Jamberoo, in the coming weeks.

Jamberoo broke his maiden at Kembla back in January and is only lightly raced with six starts to his name.

The son of Thunder Fire is named after the nearby town of the same name and has plenty of racing in front of him.

Kembla Grange is hosting a rare Wednesday card following yesterday's ANZAC Day metropolitan racing at Randwick's Kensington Track.
