In-Form Nathan Doyle Stable To Strike Again At Newcastle

By Gary Harley

Newcastle-trained filly Wealthofknowledge was runner-up in her only two starts is ready to atone in the Sharp Office Maiden Plate at the Newcastle Jockey Club's Boxing Day meeting on the Beaumont Track.

The in-form Nathan Doyle trains the filly and Lee Magorrian has the mount.

On debut on the Newcastle course proper on November 28, she was near the tail of the field at the top of the straight before storming home to fail by 1½ lengths.

That was a heavy track and last start on the Beaumont Track, Wealthofknowledge was beaten a nose on a Good 4 track.

The Capitalist filly has a tricky draw but the race is restricted to 12 starters.

Nathan Doyle [pictured left], who has trained 26 winners in less than five months of the current season, has three others racing on Saturday.

The trio is Diamond Tipped in the Des Edser Memorial Maiden Plate 1200m, Pad Thai contests the New Zealand Bloodstock Maiden Plate 1200m and Single Crown in The Prince Of Merewether Benchmark 64 Handicap 1350m.

The former Victorian Single Crown has the best chance.

Rosehill 3yo Gulf Of Panama is a standout in the 1350m Australian Bloodstock Maiden Plate. The son of Lonhro was trialling well before his only start at Warwick Farm on December 1 and he finished 1¼ lengths from the winner.

Gulf Of Panama had a nice trail behind the leaders and he raced up to challenge them in the straight but was outgunned. He will be fitter for the run and has a soft draw.

The James Cummings filly Minouche is ready to win after a fast finishing second on debut at Canterbury on December 10. The 3yo was a clear last out of the barrier and she was well back in the home turn.

The filly flashed home but was outgunned by the winner. She will contest the New Zealand Bloodstock Maiden Plate 1200m and will appreciate the spacious track.

Kris Lees's talented gelding Loch Lamond will benefit from local apprentice Dylan Gibbons 2kg allowance when he runs in the final event the 1350m Benchmark 64 Handicap.

The Kiwi-bred turned in an eye-catcher when he came from well back to finish third on the Kensington Track last start. The barrier is a negative but he has the talented jockey to overcome the barrier.

The Boxing Day meeting is full of quality but if you cannot get to the track because of the restrictions you can watch the action on the SKY Racing Network.
