Homecoming For Jarvis' Doll At Kembla Grange (Saturday)

Trainer Natalie Jarvis stable has gone from strength to strength since making the move south to Moruya and horses like Living Doll have played an important role in that success.

Jarvis moved her stable Kembla Grange to Moruya a little more than two years ago, but will return to the Illawarra Turf Club with her in-form mare on Saturday afternoon.

Living Doll is one of many tried horses in Jarvis' country stable.

She was purchased at an Inglis online auction for $19000 after Living Doll started her racing career in Victoria.

"It's turned out to be a really good buy," Jarvis said.

"She has already won more than what we paid for her.

"We try to focus on buying tried horses that are able to go in maidens or class 1 races.

"We tend to buy ones that have potential so we can bring them through their grades. Our owners want to race in the country so this gives us the opportunity to that."

Living Doll wins at Moruya on January 21

The formula has been a successful one for Jarvis, who has seen her stable grow to around 20 horses in the past 18 months.

She has had 10 winners from her past 50 starters.

"It's definitely taken off since we have moved her," Jarvis said.

"We love it. We don't have to go to the racecourse everyday and are able to use the river down here.

"The track is excellent though. It's sand based so it copes with the weather and we aren't far from the Sapphire Coast.

"Being a bit further down helps too because the city trainers don't want to come this far down like they do in Nowra or Goulburn."

Living Doll has played a big part in Jarvis’ recent success.

The daughter of Helmet has chalked up three wins and two placings at her past six starts.

Her latest victory came at her home track over the 1020m on January 21 before she steps up to provincial grade on Saturday.

Living Doll will line up in the AJ Bert Lillye Lounge Benchmark 64 Handicap (1000m) at Kembla Grange.

"She's a really consistent mare and she's going well," Jarvis said.

"She is just so determined. Over her past couple of starts she has started to build a nice partnership with Patrick Scorse. He rides her well.

"It always helps when you have a good match with the jockey and that's what we have with him.

"He a rode a winner for us over the weekend as well in the Sapphire Coast Cup. He's been good for us.''

Scorse piloted Resort to a dominant victory in the Tanja Park Stud Sapphire Coast Cup – Benchmark 66 Showcase Handicap (2200m) on Sunday.
