Gary Harley's Late Mail For Wyong (Saturday)

By Gary Harley

Locally trained five-year-old Jaytees placed in nine of eleven starts should break through in the 2 Flies Runner Up Gabe Rivett Maiden Plate (1600 metres) at Saturday’s Wyong race meeting.

The gelding was placed in seven of nine when trained last year by Gerald Ryan. Jaytees is now trained by Tracey Bartley and the Wyong trainer has given him two starts in strong fields and he has been runner up in both starts.

On September 19, Jaytees ran the smart Zorocat to a head over 900 metres at Newcastle. On October 8 he was run down late by the talented Never Second over 1100 metres at Gosford.

Jaytees is very fast and has drawn nicely on Saturday.

RACE 1 RYAN’S METAL ROOFING MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M

Ralph’s Folly has been placed in two of four starts and he is on his home track.

Finally Realise has been placed in two of his past three starts.

SELECTIONS: 2 PRINCE INVINCIBLE, 1 RALPH’S FOLLY, 6 FINALLY REALISE.

RACE 2 BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT WYONG MAIDEN HANDICAP 1600M

She’s Justified was only beaten a length at Nowra last start after running on from well back. She was a close fourth at Goulburn two starts back and she will appreciate the mile.

Hibiscus was only a length from the winner on debut at Kembla recently and Winston Blue can improve.

SELECTIONS: 7 SHE’S JUSTIFIED, 4 HIBISCUS, 2 WINSTON BLUE.

RACE 3 2 FLIES PUNTERS CLUB NSW CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2100M

The Godolphin filly La Sagra has put the writing on the wall with close recent placings. She was beaten a long head over 1900 at Gosford on October 8 and last start she came from last when beaten half a head over 2000 at Kembla. She has barrier one and only 55 kilograms.

Kippax has been racing well on country tracks and has won over 2200 while Prospero is in good form.

SELECTIONS: 9 LA SAGRA, 3 KIPPAX, 4 PROSPERO.

RACE 4 2 FLIES CHAMPION RYAN MARTIN MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350M

Mollycoddle deserves a change of luck after being placed in three of six starts. The filly was first up at Gosford a month ago when runner up to Falcon. Before a spell she was placed twice at Hawkesbury and she has drawn perfectly.

Moremi is on debut after a nice trial and Oakfield Romance has placed in her past two starts.

SELECTIONS: 8 MOLLYCODDLE, 4 MOREMI, 9 OAKFIELD ROMANCE.

RACE 5 2 FLIES RUNNER UP GABE RIVETT MAIDEN PLATE 1000M

Jaytees is a fast gelding in good form for new trainer Tracey Bartley. The five year old was placed seven of nine for Gerald Ryan before being runner up for his new trainer. He has been runner up in smart fields in his two starts this prep.

Stoical hasn’t raced or trialled since a close fourth at Newcastle in April and he was an odds on favourite on debut at Sandown in February.

Impulsive Tycoon has trialled nicely.

SELECTIONS: 2 JAYTEES, 5 STOICAL, 4 IMPULSIVE TYCOON.

RACE 6 2 FLIES QUEENSLAND CREW B/M 64 HANDICAP 1000M

Bat Pad won well last start at Newcastle and Absolutely Foxy can improve.

SELECTIONS: 3 INVINCIBLE KISS, 10 BAT PAD, 8 ABSOLUTELY FOXY.

RACE 7 2 FLIES LIFE MEMBERS B/M 68 HANDICAP 1350M

Foxborough is first up and is clearly the class horse. She won the Wagga Guineas in May and she was narrowly beaten in the Grafton Guineas in July. She has had a couple of quiet trials and has won first up.

Oakfield Target is ready to run well after a couple of close fourths recently.

Atherton can lead and races well here.

SELECTIONS: 2 FOXBOROUGH, 9 OAKFIELD TARGET, 4 ATHERTON.

RACE 8 L.J. HOOKER BUDGEWOI CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350M
