First Starter Ready To Live Up To Slashing Trial Form (Wyong, Weds)

By Gary Harley

Local filly Eyewitness ($2.70 favourite on TAB) faces the starter for the first time when she steps out in the Book Your Christmas Party At Wyong Race Club Maiden Handicap (1000m) at the Wyong meeting on Wednesday.

Kristen Buchanan trains the 3yo which has outstanding trial form. She won a trial at Newcastle in June and nine days later the filly was beaten a nose in a Gosford trial by subsequent metropolitan winner Redoute’s Image. On November 4 Eyewitness led all the way and cruised to the line to easily win a Gosford trial.

Ron Quinton’s classy mare Hibiscus Lady ($4.60) a brilliant first-up winner at Gosford on October 29 can win again when she contests the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale Benchmark 68 Handicap (1600m). The speedy mare will make use of the rails barrier and she has the services of promising Newcastle apprentice Dylan Gibbons who claims 3kg. Gibbons rode Hibiscus Lady when she won at Gosford.

RACE 1, BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT WYONG RACE CLUB MAIDEN, 1000M: Eyewitness ($2.70 fav) makes her debut here after an easy trial win at Gosford on November 4. The filly won a Newcastle trial on June 10 and she was beaten a nose by Redoute’s Image in a Gosford trial nine days later. She has genuine speed and has drawn nicely. That’s Better ($4.20) has been placed in both starts at Gosford this preparation and Gallant Run ($5.50) has won two recent trials.
SELECTIONS: 4 EYEWITNESS, 1 THAT’S BETTER, 3 GALLANT RUN

RACE 2, DE BORTOLI WINES MAIDEN HANDICAP, 1600M: Can Do It ($1.85 fav) was trapped three-wide with no cover when fourth at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day. The colt was narrowly beaten at Nowra two starts back and the longer trip will suit. Dunlee ($3.90) has been placed in both starts on this track while Lincoln Park ($5) has a chance.
SELECTIONS: 5 CAN DO IT, 2 DUNLEE, 7 LINCOLN PARK

RACE 3, TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN PLATE, 1100M: Belieber ($1.70 fav) has outstanding form and is a short-priced favourite. He was beaten two lengths when fourth in the Group 3 Breeders' Plate at Randwick 13 months ago. In his only other start three days after Christmas he was beaten 2.3 in a strong 2yo race. He has won two recent trials. Escape Artist ($5) had good form last prep and is trialling well and Screebe ($7) won a recent trial.
SELECTIONS: 2 BELIEBER, 7 ESCAPE ARTIST, 9 SCREEBE

RACE 4, BOOK NOW WYONG MAGIC MILLIONS B/M 64, 1200M: Miss Sure Shot's ($4) only win was on this track in December. She worked home nicely from well back in a strong Randwick trial recently. She had consistent form last prep and she races well fresh. Cathay ($3.70 fav) won two on the trot at Hawkesbury and Gosford before a spell and she has raced well first-up. Margie Bee ($8) has won two from three on this track.
SELECTIONS: 4 MISS SURE SHOT, 1 CATHAY, 2 MARGIE BEE

RACE 5, GREAT NORTHERN ON TAP B/M 64, 1600M: Broadside Armour ($5) is ready to win in his third run this prep. He was held up at the top of the straight at Newcastle last start and he was a close third first-up at Hawkesbury. Aspect Ratio ($2.70 fav) has good form on this track and she is racing okay while Benfica Maid ($8) has been placed twice on this track.
SELECTIONS: 3 BROADSIDE ARMOUR, 1 ASPECT RATIO, 9 BENFICA MAID

RACE 6, MAGIC MILLIONS GOLD COAST YEARLING SALE B/M 68, 1000M: Hibiscus Lady ($4.60) is a speedy mare which was impressive in winning first-up at Gosford after racing outside the leader. She has the rails barrier and apprentice Dylan Gibbons claims 3kg. This is a rise in class but she will be difficult to run down. Rifles ($4.40 fav) turned in a top performance last time and has a chance. Tejori ($4.60) is a lightly-raced mare resuming but is a Randwick TAB Highway winner.
SELECTIONS: 4 HIBISCUS LADY, 8 RIFLES, 10 TEJORI

RACE 7, SKY RACING PROVINCIAL SUMMER SERIES WYONG NOVEMBER 26 B/M 64, 1200M: Big Bad Bruce ($4.80) was only beaten 1½ lengths after coming from last first-up at Kembla recently. Wild Chap ($3.60 fav) is racing well and has won on the track and Sanctioned ($5.50) is first-up and is trialling well.
