Tracey Bartley will travel to Kembla Grange with a couple of horses that are 'ready to win' and none more so than the talented Irish Kisses on Saturday.
Irish Kisses ($3.60 equal favourite on TAB) will make up part of a two-pronged attack for Bartley when the Shamus Award mare lines up alongside Defeat ($13) in The Builders Club Provincial Benchmark 64 Handicap (1400m).
A pair of competitive displays in the metropolitan area have Irish Kisses primed to peak third-up with the consistent mare finishing fourth in a 1400m event at Warwick Farm last start.
"Irish Kisses is ready to win, we just rode her too close last week," Bartley said.
"We will be able to ride her back a bit more tomorrow, let a couple go and then let her have the last crack at them.
"If she was to win it, then we could go to the Four Pillars."
Bartley has enlisted the services of Grant Buckley to pilot Irish Kisses, which has drawn in barrier eight on Saturday.
Stablemate Defeat was dealt gate 12 with Mitch Bell aboard and the seven-year-old is chasing his first victory since July last year.
The I Am Invincible gelding came close to breaking that winning drought with a close second behind All Words over 1400m at Dubbo last time out.
"He has raced well the other day so he has got the ability but he is just finding competitive races at the moment," Bartley said. "He should run well but I am really keen on Irish Kisses."
Bartley will also saddle up the promising filly Leipzig ($9.50) in the Worldwide Demolitions Midway Maiden Handicap (1600m).
While this daughter of Nicconi is yet to win after six starts, Bartley believes Saturday could be the filly's day after she finished third at Scone and runner-up at Tamworth at her past two runs.
"She is ready to win," Bartley said. "I had to wait for her, she is only a little filly but she has put on weight now.
"I think she is going to stay and get out to a trip. I was encouraged with her run the other day, it wasn't Mitch's (Bell) fault, she just was wide from the draw and only got run down late."
Bell will pilot Leipzig on Saturday with the three-year-old likely to head for a spell if she can break her maiden this weekend.
The opening event on the eight-race card at Kembla Grange jumps at 1.20pm.
