Wyong Winners - Tips For Sunday 27th August

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Sunday’s Wyong meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 12:30PM THE AGENCY 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

11. Countyourblessings is on debut after a couple of handy enough trials that suggest she has some ability. Just went around behind the placings in the latest. Looks set to enjoy a nice run and have every chance to show up.

Dangers: 7. Sense Of Humour did some work from a wide gate when on the pace here last time, where he was run down in the closing stages. Was 1000m up to 1350m there so slight drop in trip suits. Go well. 8. Solar System debuted over this course and boxed on after sitting on speed behind Fire Star. Did have his chance but first and second have since gone to metro level. Keep in mind. 6. Professor Pickles has been trialling okay on soft ground, narrowly beaten in the latest at Randwick. Must respect stable's deubutants.

How to play it: Countyourblessings WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

Countyourblessings runs fourth in a Randwick trial on August 15

Race 2 - 1:10PM CARE 2 THE MAX 4YO&UP MAIDEN HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Global Empire is bursting to win a race and did look the winner fleetingly at Newcastle last time before being swamped. Drawn ideally here to be on speed again and this looks to have a bit less depth so he’s a big chance.

Dangers: 3. Rinzai wasn’t disgraced on debut at Canberra almost a year ago and was rested. Latest trial was quite strong at Warwick Farm and from a handy draw he could be a show here fresh. Check betting for any support. 2. Hongkong Harmony boxed on to place behind the promising Wooloowin first-up then even effort here back to 1000m three weeks ago. Wide gate no help but down nicely in weight after a claim. Keep in mind. 4. Wonder Missile is returning from a long absence since his only start at Warwick Farm back in December 2020. Trials okay and while he’ll be better for the run he should stay under notice.

How to play it: Global Empire WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Global Empire runs second at Newcastle on August 10

Race 3 - 1:50PM IRIS FOUNDATION BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

2. Vincenzo has struck his best form of late and chases a hat-trick after successive Kembla wins over 2000m. Only a modest class rise and right at his top. Small fields can be tricky over distance but looks hard to beat.

Dangers: 3. Mr Bond shapes as a big improver on his last run at Warwick Farm over a mile when five weeks between runs. Previous effort in town was solid and he’s looking for more ground. Unbeaten at this trip and a big threat. 4. Bullbarrow is coming through the grades with a maiden and Class 1 win at his past two starts and the latest was over this trip. Slightly stronger grade here but hard to fault. 1. Piraeus was over a month between runs when getting back and running on into third over 1600m at Kembla two weeks ago. Appears to be looking for a bit more ground so he’s well worth respecting.

How to play it: Vincenzo WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Vincenzo wins at Kembla on August 5

Race 4 - 2:30PM ROBSON CIVIL PROJECTS PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

7. Satirical Fan was a well supported favourite first-up at this trip at Tuncurry and went down narrowly. Didn’t appear to settle all that well so to get so close was still a good effort. Fitter for it and should have every chance to go one better.

Dangers: 4. Mr Papera has been around the mark in two runs back for two placings at Newcastle. Sent out favourite in the latest and ran an even third after racing on speed. Should go well. 8. Stanczyk settled back and ran on okay without threatening at Hawkesbury just over a week ago. Doubled his price in the betting there. Blinkers go on and bears close watching. 6. Pine Valley left it a bit too late when runner-up as favourite at Narromine last week. Consistent type who could easily fill another placing.

How to play it: Satirical Fan WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Satirical Fan runs second at Tuncurry on August 11

Race 5 - 3:10PM ODA ADVISORY CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

5. Kingston Charm won a maiden over this course three starts back and went down in a close finish in her latest at Hawkesbury earlier this month. Should get the favours here and should be very competitive.

Dangers: 1. Golden Passport only won narrowly first-up at Muswellbrook but the win was a bit better than it looked after he had to do a fair bit of chasing. Big gap to third. Fitter and should be in the finish. 2. Skylon will be fitter for an even effort at Newcastle over 1400m where he was a decent drifter in the betting. Held his ground okay so look for improvement up in distance. 6. The Coat Hanger was never seriously challenged in an easy all the way win at Taree over this trip at the start of the month. A bit tougher here but if she finds the front could give a sight.

How to play it: Kingston Charm WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Kingston Charm runs third at Hawkesbury on August 8

Race 6 - 3:50PM MAGIC MILLIONS RACING WOMEN F&M BM68 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

4. Showsumgrit picked up where she left off with an impressive win at Newcastle where she dug in late and stole another win. Fitter for that and the mile suits even better. You’d imagine she only has to hold form to go close again.

Dangers: 8. Oakfield Redgum is yet to miss a place in three runs on her home track and went down fighting when beaten by Dreamdeel here three weeks back. Will be prominent for a long way and is one of the main hopes. 6. Opito Ballerina has the blinkers on after her last start fourth at Hawkesbury where she seemed to have her chance. Form has levelled out a bit after a couple of early wins this prep but not out of it. 1. Lyrical Lady tends to run well fresh and in a small field she should be effective over this trip first-up. Was a winner over 2000m back in April and kicked off her Australian career with a second over 1600m back in February.

How to play it: Showsumgrit WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Showsumgrit wins at Newcastle on August 10

Race 7 - 4:25PM JOHNNIE ROBERTS MEMORIAL BM 64 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

8. Rockabilly Rebel broke through with an easy all the way Coffs Harbour win before a cheeky effort up to metro grade when run down by Kintyre at Rosehill. Placed here first-up in a strong maiden and looks to get a nice run here. Good chance.

Dangers: 5. Princess Amira backed up a Grafton win in July with a game second over this course three weeks ago. Similar sort of task here and can get onto the pace from a wide gate. Go well. 2. Touch Of Navy has found form for the new stable with a first-up Newcastle placing then a Muswellbrook win where he was solid in betting. Could go on with it. 6. Lady Shenanigans has been going well without winning of late and ran fourth in the same race as Princess Amira before staying on for third after racing on speed at Hawkesbury. Each-way.

How to play it: Rockabilly Rebel WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Rockabilly Rebel runs second at Rosehill on August 12

Race 8 - 5:00PM CBWN MIDWAY BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

9. One Kind is building a nice record and made it three wins from five starts with a strong first-up performance at Tuncurry two weeks back. Fitter for that and drawn nicely, trained on this track and ready for the step up.

Dangers: 12. Queen Of The Mile has trialled okay since returning and got the maiden out of the way at Bathurst back in April. Draws nicely and no surprise if she measures up fresh. 7. Nonshalaant has a wide gate but is consistent and comes off a solid win at Goulburn second-up over the 1000m. With any luck he can be in the finish. 10. Pudacious has struck form with a Gosford second-up placing then a win there a month ago. Speedy type and not without a chance.

How to play it: One Kind WIN ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds).

One Kind wins at Tuncurry on August 11
