Wyong locals made the most of their home track advantage running the quinella in Thursday’s second qualifying heat of the rich $350,000 Sky Racing Provincial Summer Series.
In a deceptive finish, the Kim Waugh-trained Trajection ridden by Tommy Berry for Darby Racing got there in the last stride to deny Kristen Buchanan’s Margie Bee.
With the first three placegetters qualifying for the $150,000 final to be run at Wyong on Saturday 2 January, the Edward Cummings-trained Tri Nations also booked a place in the final with a solid effort for third in a terrific three-way finish to the race.
The series moves on to Gosford next Wednesday, followed by Kembla on 12/12 and Newcastle on 19/12 with each of the five provincial clubs hosting a qualifying race.
