Waugh Has Bright Prospects Of Winning Double (Wyong Today)

By Gary Harley

Local trainer Kim Waugh has a good chance of landing a double in the final two events at Tuesday’s Wyong race meeting. Waugh will saddle up European import Succendam ($3.90 favourite on TAB fixed odds) in race 7 (Turfcare Australia Benchmark 70, 1600m) and Belle De Vega ($4.20) in the final event (Eco Bunker Australia Benchmark 64, 1350m).

Succendam is a promising stayer with a record of two wins and a second from four starts. He won his only start on this track over this trip on a Soft 6 in August. He raced away in the straight to win first-up over 1350m on the Beaumont Track. Belle De Vega was a close third in a strong race first-up at Newcastle recently. The step up to 1350m is ideal and she has won second-up.

RACE 1, ICL SIERRAFORM GT MAIDEN, 1000M: Rifles ($1.95 fav) is first-up and he has raced well in all three starts. Princess Ariana ($3.20) has trialled okay and bottom weight Honey Elysees ($8) ran well first-up and has only 53kg.
SELECTIONS: 1 RIFLES, 2 PRINCESS ARIANA, 10 HONEY ELYSEES

RACE 2, SYNGENTA POSTERITY 2YO MAIDEN PLATE, 1200M: Mocial Chief ($2.70 fav) was beaten 1.8 lengths in his only start on January 3 at Canterbury. The colt came from last and ran on strongly. Pink Beau ($3.70) was okay on debut, while Princess Betty ($5.50) must be kept safe from the Waugh stable on debut.
SELECTIONS: 2 MOCIAL CHIEF, 7 PINK BEAU, 8 PRINCESS BETTY

RACE 3, TURFCULTURE THUMPER MITICIDE MAIDEN, 1350M: Mensa Missile ($1.22 fav) looks the winner after the stablemate Smart Success was withdrawn. In his only start the 3yo finished fourth in a strong race on the Kensington Track. Red Hot ($7) has been thereabouts of late and Unloch The Rock ($8.50) has place chances behind the favourite.
SELECTIONS: 1 MENSA MISSILE, 7 RED HOT, 4 UNLOCH THE ROCK

RACE 4, BAYER INDEMNIFY CLASS 1, 1000M: For Love ($4.20) ran on nicely when placed in a 900m race at Newcastle a month ago. She was an easy winner of a 900m event at Scone in September, has drawn nicely and has Rachel King aboard. Fox Sprint ($1.90 fav) has sound country form which includes a 5½ length win at Tamworth last start and she is quick. Sacred Sword ($7.50) resumes and has a good first-up record.
SELECTIONS: 4 FOR LOVE, 5 FOX SPIRIT, 1 SACRED SWORD

RACE 5, FLORATINE FOLIARS PROVINCIAL & COUNTRY MAIDEN, 1200M: Sending Love ($2.90 fav) was close when runner-up in two starts at Taree and on the Beaumont Track in the spring. She was beaten four lengths in a red hot Newcastle 900m maiden a month ago. The Snitzel filly can overcome the wide draw. Aytobe ($3) has had plenty of chances but is capable of winning. Uprise ($3.80) was placed at Newcastle last start.
SELECTIONS: 11 SENDING LOVE, 1 AYTOBE, 5 UPRISE

RACE 6, SPORTS TURF SOLUTIONS CLASS 2, 1200M: Apollo Prince ($4.60) is a smart horse but lightly raced. Eleven months back he bolted in a with a Newcastle maiden before a Wyong placing then being spelled. He resumed with an unlucky placing on the Beaumont Track on February 17. Absolute Trust ($3.10) is also talented and he was runner-up in a Rosehill Highway last start on January 18. He won a recent Muswellbrook trial comfortably. Screenager ($2.50 fav) had good Victorian form in the spring winning at Kyneton and Bendigo and finishing a close fourth at Flemington.
SELECTIONS: 4 APOLLO PRINCE, 1 ABSOLUTE TRUTH, 5 SCREENAGER

RACE 7, TURFCARE AUSTRALIA BM 70, 1600M: Succendam ($3.90) is a promising stayer which won brilliantly on the Beaumont Track first-up three weeks ago. He won on this track over 1600m in August and Kim Waugh has kept him up to the mark with a recent trial. Ready’s Girl ($5.50) is racing well with a Gosford win and was then beaten less than two lengths at Canterbury. Time Raid ($5) is always thereabouts.
SELECTIONS: 2 SUCCENDAM, 6 READY’S GIRL, 1 TIME RAID

RACE 8, ECO BUNKER AUSTRALIA BM 64, 1350M: Belle De Vega ($4.20) was good first-up at Newcastle when beaten less than a length in a strong race. The longer trip is ideal and Josh Parr takes the ride. This mare always puts in and she has a record of four wins and four placings from 12 starts. Asudem ($2.70 fav) has outstanding country form and he will give a good sight. Salsa Man ($10) races best on this track.
SELECTIONS: 6 BELLE DE VEGA, 4 ASUDEM, 5 SALSA MAN
