The Coast made its debut in 2021 and was won by John Sargent-trained Brandenburg, ridden by Regan Bayliss. Last year's The Coast was taken out by Kris Lees' Rustic Steel, after a great ride from Jay Ford, taking an early lead before scoring.
The five-year-old gelding went on to win the Scone Cup just six days later and the inaugural Big Dance at Randwick in November 2022.
The Gosford Gold Cup, run over 2100m, will be one of the highlight events on Gosford’s Stand-alone Saturday meeting, which has been relocated from its original January date.
In 2020 the Listed race received a generous prizemoney increase from its original $150,000 to $250,000. In 2022 the Cup was taken out by Warwick Farm's Numerian who went on to run in the Melbourne Cup.
