Scone Race Club plays host to an eight-race-card on Thursday with double-figure field sizes across all races.
The locals are well represented, but so are the out of town raiders such as Bjorn Baker and the Snowden camps.
Local trainer Brett Cavanough brings his exciting Dream Ahead gelding Eiger ($2.30 favourite on TAB fixed odds) back to the races aiming to make it three wins on the bounce in the Happy Birthday Ryan Pryde Class 3 Handicap over 1100m.
In fact, the only time this three-year-old has been beaten in races or trials was behind the in-form Emanuela in a trial here on October 25.
This race is full of depth, however, with no less than three last start winners and Rodney Northam’s Aubrey Skies ($7.50) and Paul Messara’s Powertrain ($3.30) are both looking to put two on end for the locals.
The Xmas Party Raceday Dec 13 Benchmark 66 Handicap over 1100m boasts three last start winners.
Local trainer Stephen Jones saddles up his Hinchinbrook mare Havelka ($9) in the All Too Hard at Vinery Maiden (1100m), with Jones explaining that it is lucky for him that she is even in the race.
“She was actually going to go to stud to be a broodmare,” Jones said. “But her two runs for me this time in have been really good and I think she’ll be right in the money on Thursday.”
Gates open at 11.30am with the first race scheduled for 1.35pm.
