Sara Ryan Set Continue Successful Week At Wyong (Sat)

By Gary Harley

Wyong trainer Sara Ryan - on cloud nine following the win of Attractable in the $3 million Big Dance at Randwick on Tuesday - can kick off Saturday’s Wyong race meeting with a winner.

The lightly raced seven-year-old Vegas Outlaw is owned and trained these days by Ryan and judging by his easy last start win at Kembla he is the one to beat in the opening event, the Gosford Masonic Centre Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m).

The gelding was a maiden winner for Ryan in March and races well on his home track at Wyong. Last start at Kembla he led all the way to win a Class 1 on a heavy track by 2.8 lengths.

The son of Casino Prince’s both wins have been over 1600m and he has led in both.  Grant Buckley rode the horse at Kembla second-up and he retains the mount on Saturday.

Richard and Will Freedman’s mare Eau de Vie, a gallant runner up at Gosford first-up, can atone in the Peter Mac’s Service Centre Class 1 Handicap (1350m).

She settled fourth in the 1200m Class 1 at Gosford and moved up three-wide to challenge the leaders on the turn. Eau De Vie tried hard down the straight to fail by 0.33 of a length.

She started favourite in three of her four starts before a spell and the mare won a Kembla maiden by more than three lengths in March. Eau De Vie was only a $6 chance when midfield on a heavy track in the Group 3-Adrian Knox Stakes and she won’t be far off the speed from barrier one with Alysha Collett aboard.

Kris Lees has two promising 3yos clashing in the Freemason’s on The Central Coast Provincial Maiden Handicap (1600m).

Bellascent, a filly, and Seasons of Mist, a gelding, both caught the eye with fast finishing performances in a Newcastle 1300m maiden on debut on October 17. The pair settled at the tail of the field and they made their runs together from the top of the straight.

Seasons of Mist was 1.15 length from the winner when the judge called a halt with Bellascent 0.38 of a length further back. The longer trip is ideal for the stablemates and the pair have drawn the two inside barriers.

Bellascent has a large group of owners including Wyong Race Club Chairman, John Waghorn and Newcastle Jockey Club Chairman, Geoff Barnett. A huge crowd is expected at Wyong with all function areas booked out through the week as it is one the Central Coast Club's rare Saturday meetings.

RACE 1, GOSFORD MASONIC CENTRE, BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP, 1600m: Vegas Outlaw was very impressive in leading all the way at Kembla last start. He was a Wyong winner last prep and has a good barrier. Both of his wins have been over 1600m. Shuri bolted in by 4½ lengths on debut at Taree on October 20 and the Kiwi-bred mare led all the way. Oakfield Twilight also has speed and he was placed at Newcastle last start.
SELECTIONS: 3 VEGAS OUTLAW, 8 SHURI, 1 OAKFIELD TWILIGHT

RACE 2, GARY TURNER MEMORIAL-ABBEY TIMBER, 3YO MAIDEN, 1000m: Winning Run finished down the track in the 2022 Gimcrack Stakes at big odds in his only start. The filly has only had one recent trial and the filly displayed good speed to lead all the way unextended at Warwick Farm on October 23. Prima Bella is on debut after a number of trials three of them recently. She has drawn well and has a win and three trial placings. Ailbhe trialled okay under no pressure recently.
SELECTIONS: 4 WINNING RUN, 2 PRIMA BELLA, 1 AILBHE

RACE 3, WYONG LEAGUES GROUP-THE ROOS FOUNDATION CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1000m: Parisian Rose produced the run of the day to score an incredible win at Newcastle on debut on October 14. She sprouted wings in the last 50m from midfield in her only other start at Kembla on October 28 and she struck a heavy track and finished third. Deceive is in good form winning first-up at Hawkesbury followed by a close second on the Beaumont Track and she has a lovely barrier. Estephania won on protest at Gosford recently but this race is tougher.
SELECTIONS: 4 PARISIAN ROSE, 1 DECEIVE, 5 ESTEPHANIA

RACE 4, PETER MAC’S SERVICE CENTRE CLASS 1 HANDICAP, 1350m: Eau De Vie indicated that she has come back from a spell in good order with a close second at Gosford first-up recently. She settled worse than midfield and joined the leaders on the home turn and fought hard to miss by 0.33 of a length. The mare is consistent and from barrier one she should be in the box seat. Emmadella is in good form and is a last start Kembla winner which followed a close third at Newcastle first-up. Always In will be fitter for the first-up run and she has won on her home track.
SELECTIONS: 3 EAU DE VIE, 7 EMMADELLA, 6 ALWAYS IN

RACE 5, FREEMASONS ON THE CENTRAL COAST MAIDEN, 1600m: Stablemates Bellascent and Seasons of Mist clashed on debut at Newcastle recently and both put the writing on the wall. They were the last pair during the race and produced a good turn of foot late. The longer trip is ideal for both horses and they have drawn the two inside barriers. Red Cobra is struggling to win a race, however, he has been placed six times.
SELECTIONS: 4 BELLASCENT, 2 SEASONS OF MIST, 6 RED COBRA

RACE 6, RENTOKIL INITIAL SUPER MAIDEN PLATE, 1300m: Jaex has the best form in the race and has a perfect barrier. The mare has had three starts this prep for three placings. She gets back midfield but is a strong finisher and her past three starts she was beaten 0.32 and 0.06 at Hawkesbury and a length at Newcastle. Major Look went okay first-up and will be better for the run while Casebolt will run well.
SELECTIONS: 8 JAEX, 5 MAJOR LOOK, 11 CASEBOLT

RACE 7, WIDELINE WINDOWS & DOORS BENCHMARK 64, 1100m: Iron Hat had no luck when fourth on the Kensington Track last start after being slow away and badly held up in the straight. He is enjoying a good prep with successive wins at Dubbo and Muswellbrook and unlucky fourths in his past two at the Kensington Track. Satin and Silk is very quick and can lead while Pad Thai has trialled okay.
SELECTIONS: 2 IRON HAT, 8 SATIN AND SILK, 1 PAD THAI
