Rolfe Hopes Dubai's The Centre Of Attention Again (Kembla Saturday)

In-form galloper Dubai Centre can add another picket to the fence at Kembla Grange on Saturday as trainer John Rolfe looks to set the foundation for another country Cups assault.

Dubai Centre is racing in a rare vein of form and will chase a fifth consecutive triumph in the Markey Saddlery Conditional Open Handicap (1400m).

He has put together wins at Dubbo, Albury, Goulburn and last start in the Narromine Cup, which was staged at Cowra.

The classy chestnut had been a maiden when he arrived in Rolfe's care from Danny O'Brien and is now racing in career best form.

"Four in a row and he's going good," Rolfe said.

"He just needed time. He had a few problems when he was younger and had a throat operation which just took time.

"Now you wouldn't even know he has had a throat operation, he's that good.

"He handles the wet and goes just as good on the dry, he sprints better on the dry so hopefully it's good again on Saturday."

Dubai Centre opened as a $3.80 favourite with TAB on Friday.

Michael Heagney will travel to Kembla Grange to pilot Dubai Centre, which will need to carry 60kg to win again.

Rolfe has no worries about his talented five-year-old carrying the weight but admitted the step back in trip could make Saturday a trickier task.

"The only thing will be stepping back from 1700m to 1400m, which isn't ideal, but there was not much else on and we wanted to run him because it's a fortnight to the Dubbo Cup," he said.

"He will go to the mile at Dubbo and maybe the Bathurst Cup. He will be better when he gets over the 2000m.

"It would be hard to get him in (a Big or Little Dance) but you can only hope."

A win in the Dubbo Cup would give Dubai Centre entry into the Big Dance or Little Dance later this year.

Rolfe will also chase a well-earned win with Khaleej on Saturday in the ARC Air Conditioning Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

The Pride Of Dubai gelding, which started its career with Amy and Ash Yargi, has placed at his past two in country grade.

"He doesn't like the wet at all and has been running good races on it," Rolfe said.

"When we bought him we probably thought he was the better one of the two but he has had a lot of problems and ran on those wet tracks."

Heagney will also pilot Khaleej, which is rated a $151 outsider.
