Hawkesbury Race Club has received a record 245 nominations for their massive 10-race Hawkesbury Cup program this Saturday.
“We are thrilled with the response we have had to this Saturday’s stand-alone event, with record prizemoney of over $1.8 million on offer,” said Hawkesbury Race Club's CEO, James Heddo.
“There are 29 entries for the [$250,000 Group 3] Richmond Club Hawkesbury Gold Cup [1600m], with all the leading stables represented.
"Additionally, we have strong numbers across all of our supporting races on the day.
“The track is currently rated a Soft 5 and if we can hopefully avoid some rain forecast for later in the week, I’m confident that we will present an ideal surface for the 10-race card.”
2022 Hawkesbury Cup winner Kirwan's Lane, will lead the Cup field out, having been recently been retired and retrained to pursue a new career in polo.
The scene will be set on Friday 3 May with the inaugural “Panthers Hawkesbury Race Club Sports Lunch Calcutta” to be held at Western Sydney Conference Centre, with over 400 guests booking their seats.
“We aim to make this weekend a spectacular sporting event for the Greater Western Sydney Community and look forward to welcoming everyone trackside on the day,” said Mr Heddo.
Gates open at 10.30am and the first race is scheduled for 11:20am.
