Prelude Tailor Made For Messara's Queen (Wyong Sunday)

By Gary Harley

The Robson Civil Projects Wyong Cup Prelude (2100m) will highlight the eight race program at Wyong on Sunday. The Arrowfield mare Mirror Queen is the early favourite and Central Coast jockey Josh Parr has accepted the ride on the lightly raced but talented daughter of Dundeel.

Mirror Queen has won three of six starts and her winter form has been outstanding.

Trainer Paul Messara (Pic: Bradley Photos)

The Paul Messara trained mare stepped up to the 1600 metre trip at Tamworth on June 24 and she came from worse than midfield on the turn to win by 1.4 lengths. Next start again over ‘1600’ at Gunnedah on July 4 she raced away by 2-1/2 lengths.

Messara sent the four-year-old around in a tick over trial at Scone on July 7 over an unsuitable 1000 metres and she was beaten a nose. Last start in a Class 3 1800 metre Highway Mirror Queen was placed only 1-1/2 lengths from the winner.

Deniliquin is the main threat following an easy Kembla 2000 metre event last start.

He is a stout stayer going down by 0.24 of a length over ‘2300’ at Newcastle in November.

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott are sending a nice Pierro three-year-old gelding to Wyong, Stonecoat is his name and he will be favourite in the Drew Chivas Memorial Class 1 Handicap (1600m). He debuted at Scone on July 9 and he won an 1100 metre Maiden by 2 lengths.

On July 23 Stonecoat was gutsy when runner up to True Crime on a bottomless Randwick track. Last start he was run down late when beaten a length in a strong Benchmark 72 over 1300 metres. He is pretty quick and has barrier one and Josh Parr.

Nash Rawiller is driving to Wyong for one mount. He rides the well named Hawaii Five Oh the short priced favourite in the opening event, The Agency 3YO Maiden Plate (1200m).

The colt a son of I Am Invincible and Aloha is on debut after an impressive Rosehill trial win. Michael Freedman trains the colt for John Singleton and Gerry Harvey.

RACE 1 THE AGENCY 3YO MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
Hawaii Five Oh is on debut after impressive trial form. He sat 3 wide no cover before running on strong to win a recent Rosehill trial under a hold. Nash Rawiller is coming to Wyong for one ride and the colt has the rails barrier.

Eagle Nest is also on debut after doing her best work late in a recent trial.

Dear Jewel was placed at Newcastle on debut recently.

RACE 2 JOHNNIE ROBERTS MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1600m
Speedy Song has put the writing on the wall with runner up performances in his last two starts. He raced in second place when runner up in an 1860m Maiden at Newcastle last start. Two starts back he was beaten half a length at Goulburn. Apprentice Zac Lloyd claims 1 ½ kilograms and he rode the horse last start.

Ananasi raced greenly first up and can improve while Solarosa has a place chance.

RACE 3 MAGIC MILLIONS RACING WOMEN WYONG LA GIOCONDA BENCHMARK 68 1600m

SELECTIONS: 2 SEBRING’S ROSE 4 SANSTOC 1 DIVA BELLA

RACE 4 GURNEY FINANCIAL SERVICES MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100m

Mad Darcey was runner at Kembla last start and Diamond Flare had no luck first start.

RACE 5 ROBSON CIVIL PROJECTS WYONG CUP PRELUDE BENCHMARK 68 2100m

Deniliquin was an easy Kembla winner last start and he is stout stayer.

Time Raid has been narrowly beaten at Hawkesbury in his past two starts.

SELECTIONS: 9 MIRROR QUEEN 4 DENILIQUIN 5 TIME RAID

RACE 6 DREW CHIVAS MEMORIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1600m
Stonecoat is a smart 3 year old going to 1600 for the first time. He bolted in with a Scone Maiden on July 9. Second start he was runner up in a bottomless track at Randwick on July 23. Last start Stonecoat was only beaten a length at Rosehill.
