Neil Evans' Tips For Wyong (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track likely Soft 5 and rail out 3m

Race 1 CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2100m):

Two runners look set to fight out the opener on a much improving track. Progressive four-year-old 1. Oceanic Flash must be the one to beat after sweeping home for the easiest of wins second-up. Was heavily backed that day, and a little bit of cut out of the ground should only boost his claim being by dual Doncaster-winning mudlark Sacred Falls.

Dangers: Promising three-year-old 4. Tea Leaves is the clear threat third-up and 24 days between runs. Had little or no luck second-up after being caught wide & then had to work in the breeze on a heavy surface. Has trialled since, and from a much softer draw with blinkers back on can be right there. Gap to the rest headed by 3. Seporto who draws the inside with a claim.

How to play it: Oceanic Flash to win; quinella 1 and 4; trifecta (in order) 1-4-3. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 2 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1600m):

Like the value here about provincial mare 4. Miss Scalini deep into the prep. Has been in and around the money last three since winning a country BM 66, and importantly was scratched from a higher graded Midway race at Newcastle on Saturday to be saved for this.

Dangers: Progressive metro four-year-old 3. For Valour is likely to go off a short-priced favourite after a dominant barrier-to-box maiden win in heavy ground at Hawkesbury. That said, he draws wider here in a decent step up in grade carrying 1kg more, and is under the odds.

How to play it: Miss Scalini each way and quinella 3 and 4. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 3 MAIDEN HCP (1600m):

Improving UK bred metro three-year-old 6. Bon Vivant can strike here second-up, with blinkers added. Had good market support when hitting the line late first-up at Newcastle, and with a couple of other fancies preferred at Scone on Monday, he gets his chance out to the mile. Is by four-time Group 1-winning Northern Hemisphere star Golden Horn.

Dangers: Under-rated provincial five-year-old 1. Pelennium draws well third-up; while both 7. Gerardjoseph third-up and 12. Hide Your Heart fifth-up go in exotics.

How to play it: Bon Vivant to win and trifecta 6/1,7,12/1,7,12. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 MAIDEN HCP (1000m):

Tricky and competitive sprint. Improving filly 4. Glamour And Glory gets winkers applied second-up, and wasn't far off a promising winner at Hawkesbury who has since won again. Draws the fence, with a leading metro rider taking over.

Dangers: Watch the betting on Snitzel filly 7. Joyzel who has spent plenty of time at the trials for a leading Warwick Farm yard; while 8. Lily Elsie has plenty of ability, and hit the line late first-up at Kembla.

How to play it: Glamour And Glory to win
Odds and Evens: Split

Race 5 MAIDEN PLATE (1100m):

Sticking with talented Deep Field three-year-old 8. Sacred Field despite a painful defeat first-up at Gosford as a hot favorite when he lost his compass on the turn and was run down late. Has enough natural speed to clear the ruck, and is advantaged under the set weights scale carrying 1.5kg less.

Dangers: Progressive three-year-old 1. Bartoselli defied his big price first-up in a metro maiden hitting the line hard to beat all bar an impressive winner. Big market gap to the rest headed by debutante Sebring three-year-old 7. Ransakka who can sneak into a place behind three recent trials.

How to play it: Sacred Field to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 6 FILLIES & MARES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1200m):

Moderate affair, and won't be much between them. Capable metro mare 3. Shotgun Alli gets a significant drop in grade fourth-up. Outclassed in Group 3 company two runs back before finishing only three lengths from Norwegian Bliss who then won again in tougher grade at Newcastle on Saturday. Both career wins from nine starts have come on soft ground.

Dangers: Progressive mare 1. Passistas won first-up in a country BM 66 before being edged out in her last couple at the provincials. A little query over 1200m around this track, but the more it dries out the stronger her claim. Local filly 4. Sweet Ruby was no match for a dominant winner at Gosford three weeks back, but finds peak fitness third-up. Metro filly 5. My Snow Queen was okay from the front first-up at Kembla, and has done nearly all her racing on rain-affected going.

How to play it: Shotgun Alli to win. Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 7 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1200m):

Now the boys edition, and this stacks up nicely for progressive three-year-old 6. Ka Bling who draws to get plenty of cover fourth-up. Was a smart maiden winner at second start before charging home in handy CL1 at Newcastle. Given a month between runs, and stable had also targeted the feature metro meeting at Kembla this Saturday.

Dangers: Progressive four-year-old 1. French Marine finished best to claim a country BM 66 fourth-up, and he drew to get a good run just off the speed. Ultra consistent four-year-old 5. Coal Crusher has just a country maiden win, but never finished further back than second in six starts. Close-up as a heavily backed favorite at Kembla second-up, although will need to slot in from a wide gate. Expect second-up improvement from 2. Land Of Valens who couldn't go with French Marine first-up, but meets that one 1.5kg better at the weights, and also advantaged by a drying track.

How to play it: Ka Bling to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 8 BENCHMARK 68 HCP (1000m):

Speed should be good here, and that suits five-year-old 2. Toro Toro fourth-up from off the speed. Had all sorts of traffic problems in a feature country sprint two starts back before strong late in BM 87 country grade. Likes this track, including a win in similar grade in early June, and this race lacks depth.

Dangers: Flying mare 6. Flora has become the poster girl for her little home village in northern NSW, having won four of her last five, all at Grafton and up to CL3 level. Has a tonne of early speed, but in a deeper field on a more challenging provincial circuit will test. Speedy mare 5. Emilette chased home a high class country sprinter second-up; while included in exotics 9. The Neon Knight who drops in grade.

How to play it: Toro Toro to win and quinella 2 and 6. Odds and Evens: Evens

BEST BETS:
R3 6. BON VIVANT
R7 6. KA BLING

BEST VALUE:
R8 2. TORO TORO
