Neil Evans' Tips For Hawkesbury (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track likely Soft 5 and rail true

Race 1 FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Testing opener for the girls, but keen on I Am Invincible metro filly 6. Typhoon Tavi who resumes off a near seven month break for only her second start. Draws to get an economical run right behind the speed, and fitted with two tidy trials up to 1030m.

Dangers: Godolphin filly 1. Naples is the obvious threat returning for her first outing since spring. Was right behind the winner in three consecutive runs before spelling, and has had two quiet trials. So You Think filly 2. Diva Da Vinci was pushed out late in the second of two recent trials, but will be hitting the line. Trained on the track, Lonhro filly 3. Divine Guidance comes out of that same trial here as the former when okay through the line after being ridden in front.

How to play it: Typhoon Tavi each way and box exacta 1,2,6. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 2 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN HCP (1100m):

Promising three-year-old 1. Selhurst Park can go to the next level returning as a gelding after showing plenty in all three placed runs last prep. Has won both lead-up trials, and loved the way he quickened from well back in the most recent over 1050m, sailing over the top. Seemingly been educated to settle further off speed, bred to thrive in soft ground, and this is an ideal first-up assignment.

Dangers: Well-bred 5. Transformation is deep into his prep, and led for a long way at Canterbury, although up sharply in weight. Stablemate 8. Beckons found the line first-up in a handy provincial maiden, and drew to sit right behind a solid speed.

How to play it: Selhurst Park to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 3 CLASS 1 HCP (1100m):

Much wider market in this one. Progressive four-year-old 2. Amortal made a solid winning debut at Wyong, stalking the speed and driving home best, clocking 33.49 secs for his last 600m on a Soft 5 rating. Draws inside with a claim.

Dangers: Resuming Epaulette filly 3. Huzzah only trialled in a three-horse field on the synthetic but her work was good, under a strong hold while the other two had to be pushed a long way out. Keep safe 1. Vindication who fought on okay resuming at Kembla; while both 5. Highly Ambitious resuming; and first-up provincial maiden winner 6. Sirius Girl; go into exotics.

How to play it: Amortal to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 MAIDEN HCP (1300m):

Progressive three-year-old 4. Packer just needs to slot on for cover from the tricky draw to open his account. After working home okay in two country runs, stuck on well in a tougher metro maiden, and with a key gear change he's ready to win.

Dangers: Big watch on home track filly 6. I'm Devine returning behind two trials, 22 weeks after a fair closing debut here. Liked the way Puissance De Lune three-year-old 2. Floating travelled in the second of two recent trials, although time was only average. Stable has always had a good opinion of him; while watching the betting on stablemate Tarzino three-year-old 1. By Nine who makes his debut behind two trials.

How to play it: Packer to win. Odds and Evens: Evens

Race 5 MAIDEN PLATE (1500m):

Emerging I Am Invincible filly 14. Tiempe Passate will likely have to concede plenty of ground from the wide draw, but loved the way she hit the line from well back on debut in the country. Carries the same weight here against some better ones, but with that experience and strong jockey sticking like glue, she can can open her account.

Dangers: Local three-year-old 2. Devil Racer was okay first-up in town, and will find this more to his liking; while No Nay Never filly 12. Scat's Surfer Girl can improve sharply third-up and back a little in distance.

How to play it: Tiempe Passate to win. Odds and Evens: Evens

Race 6 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1800m):

Nearly always plenty of chances in and around this grade. Progressive colt 5. Gulf Of Saros went through to lead and gave nothing else a chance first-up at Wyong, although has a tougher draw here against some better ones.

Dangers: Lightly raced five-year-old 2. Savvy Crown is over the odds third-up getting on a bigger track; while improving three-year-old 6. Prefect Match beat a handy maiden field two runs back, and is one of several each-way hopes.

How to play it: Gulf Of Saros to win and box exacta 2,5,6. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1300m):

Warwick Farm-based and ex-Victorian four-year-old 6. Read My Future is a talented four-year-old by Nostradamus who can make an instant splash in NSW for the new stable. Hasn't raced since sweeping home for a five length win at Ballarat on debut last May, and it's been seven weeks since her last public trial, but with a 3kg claim leaving her only 1.5kg above the limit she's beautifully placed.

Dangers: Improving filly 14. Tanzimat motored home to claim her maiden two runs back before again finishing hard into a place three weeks ago. Draws to get good cover, and will relish the bigger track. Gap to the rest headed by honest filly 2. Ruby Kisses who can improve third-up; while 9. Born A Warrior will need some luck from a tough draw, but blinkers come off, and he strikes peak fitness fifth-up with blinkers removed.

How to play it: Read My Future and Tanzimat both to win. Odds and Evens: Evens

BEST BETS:
R2 1. SELHURST PARK
R4 4. PACKER

BEST VALUE:
R5 14. TIEMPE PASSATE
