Neil Evans' Tips For Hawkesbury (Tuesday)

By Neil Evans

Track improving to Good 4 and rail out 3m from 1100m to 450m & True the remainder

Race 1 CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2000m):

Keen on lightly raced five-year-old 3. Fine Ruby third-up. Charged home under the same weight to beat a handy maiden field over the mile, and plenty of progressive room out to this distance.

Dangers: Imported US-bred five-year-old 1. Daysan is an obvious threat over more ground after doing his best work late first run in Australia off a long break; while 2. Dr Evil up in distance; and 7. Enjolras getting to this trip at his fifth start; can run into the placings.

How to play it: Fine Ruby to win. Odds and Evens: Odds

Race 2 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1000m):

Capitalist colt 1. Fortune Harbour looks tuned up for a strong debut behind two nice trials. Dam is by the late great Galileo, and rates a near good thing in this.

Dangers: Debutant Pride Of Dubai filly 7. Kahawaty draws well and can improve; while a big gap to the rest.

How to play it: Fortune Harbour to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 3 MAIDEN HCP (1500m):

Improving four-year-old 1. Tyrol can peak at his fourth start. Jumped up 200m to this trip at Kembla and was only edged out by a long head, and given four weeks between runs.

Dangers: Progressive 2. Raging Bull has been given a 10 week freshen-up since hitting the line well in 2YO metro grade. Keep safe 4. Eyes To Eye who worked home nicely on debut, and draws to get a soft run; while 3. King Of Hearts goes in exotic plays.

How to play it: Tyrol to win and box exacta 1,2,4. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 4 COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES MAIDEN PLATE (1300m):

Promising four-year-old 2. Ma And Pa is set to explode back as a gelding off a six month break. Has won both lead-up metro trials, bred to get further, and headed for bigger prizes than this.

Dangers: Talented Zoustar three-year-old 4. Sabino has been close-up in two provincial runs so far, and stays at the trip. Liked the way three-year-old 12. Otelo finished off at this track second-up, and looking for more ground; while the rest should be making up the numbers.

How to play it: Ma And Pa to win. Odds and Evens: Evens a special

Race 5 FILLIES & MARES MAIDEN PLATE (1300m):

Thin affair after several came out, and that augurs well for improving provincial filly 9. In The Blink who looks supremely placed third-up. Held her ground okay in a strong country maiden behind a smart and heavily backed winner, and draws to get a softer trail here.

Dangers: Frankel filly 14. Von Trapp attacked the line debuting in a metro maiden, and the winner that day then took on Saturday Group 3 company; while watching the betting on debutant Dundeel filly 12. Thousand Years who's trialled okay.

How to play it: In The Blink to win. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 6 CLASS 1 HCP (1400m):

Open battle with many chances. Progressive colt 1. Aeecee Express stalked the speed fresh on the Kensington track and got the job done at only his second start. Bred to get further, and this shapes as an ideal follow-up race.

Dangers: Provincial mare 5. Patrina is still lightly raced, and on her day has more than enough ability to win this. Resumed with a fair closing effort, and draws to be tucked away with cover and produced late. Promising colt 8. Never Cry is finally realising his potential well into the first full prep. Surged home to beat a handy country maiden field third-up, and this is well within his reach. Keep safe 2. Crazy Wolf who flew home last start and is hard fit; while market watch on 7. The Mediator who returns as a gelding from a soft draw off two quiet trials.

How to play it: Aeecee Express to win and first four 1,5/1,2,5,7,8/1,2,5,7,8/1,2,5,7,8. Odds and Evens: Split

Race 7 BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1100m):

Very keen on improving four-year-old 2. Patrolling who can peak third-up. Up sharply in weight, but comes off a strong effort in tougher metro grade when making up a tonne of ground after being well back and wide for muchy of the race.

Dangers: Honest four-year-old mare 8. Kittyhawk Flyer has been finding the line well all prep, and draws to get an economical run with blinkers going on; while 4. Moralist is on the quick back-up after sticking on strong in a weaker race at Scone.

How to play it: Patrolling to win and quinella 2 and 8. Odds and Evens: Evens

BEST BETS:
R4 2. MA AND PA
R7 2. PATROLLING

BEST VALUE:
R6 1. AEECEE EXPRESS
