John Schell's Tips For Wyong (Sunday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track

Race 1 - 12:55PM TABCORP MAIDEN PLATE (1625 METRES)

3. Ilovenews raced on the speed and was first past the post only to be relegated to second on protest at Kembla Grange two starts ago. He again was on pace when beaten just over a length when sixth at the same track last time out. He’s drawn well here and should take plenty of running down.

Dangers: 10. Inevitable Truth debuted at Warwick Farm against much tougher opposition earlier in the year when finishing last at big odds She had two trials before hitting the line well to finish second at Scone and the step up in distance looks like it will suit. 6. Minnehaha Falls wasn’t disgraced on debut at Canterbury and since ran well fourth at Kembla Grange. She has the ability to figure in the finish of this. 1. Aranese is yet to be placed from eight starts, but hasn’t been far away of late and could sneak into the minor money.

How to play it: Ilovenews WIN.

Race 2 - 1:29PM WYONG LEAGUES GROUP (1625 METRES)

1. Line Of Fire resumed against good opposition at Randwick with a sixth, then ran third behind subsequent city winner High Dandy at Hawkesbury. He’s ready to peak now and should be prominent from this inside barrier.

Dangers: 2. Euromaster has shown plenty of talent in his career with a win and five seconds from eight starts. He won at this track in June and since then finished fourth at Newcastle before a second at Kembla Grange. This looks a nice race for him. 6. Lady Gold was claimed late when second at this track last time out. Another bold showing is on the cards. 9. Tears For Fears ran second behind High Dandy last time out and is not out of this with a repeat of that.

How to play it: Line Of Fire WIN.

Race 3 - 2:04PM DE BORTOLI WINES MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

1. Brokerage resumed with a handy third at this track, and hasn’t been beaten far in either run since. He’s drawn wide, but has the speed to take up a position and should give plenty of cheek.

Dangers: 4. Luna Field has had three starts back from a spell and has finished second in each of the latest two at Bathurst and Wyong. He’s drawn the rails here and should give plenty of cheek. 3. Generous Harry has finished second in two of his three starts and has won two trials leading into this resuming effort. He is worth plenty of thought. 5. Wild Sensation debuted with a second at Gosford in May, and has been close-up in two trials in preparation for this return to racing.

How to play it: Brokerage WIN.

Race 4 - 2:39PM #TEAM WYONG EQUIMILLION PROVINCIAL MAIDEN (1100 METRES)

4. The Act is a well-bred Zoustar colt on debut and he’s had four trials in preparation. He won the latest hitout at Rosehill in good style and looks set to kick off his career with a bold showing.

Dangers: 1. Koios is a well-bred gelding on debut here and he’s looked good in his trials. He’s drawn wide but won a trial at Scone recently and should be given plenty of thought here. 7. Zoum Raider was down the track on debut at Canterbury, but resumes here on the back of a solid trial performance. 6. Yamato resumed from a spell with a seventh of eight at Newcastle and can improve sharply into this.

How to play it: The Act WIN.

Race 5 - 3:15PM SKY CHANNEL 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

4. Excelindeed had two starts at Canterbury earlier in the year and was placed in each. He’s won two trials leading into this return to racing and looks primed to take plenty of beating.

Dangers: 8. Vieri is on debut and has had a number of trials leading into this. He shouldn’t be underestimated. 2. Deconstruction had two starts at Warwick Farm earlier in the year and ran third on debut. He resumes here after two strong trials and is worth including among the main chances. 11. Sun Beauty debuted wit a safely held sixth behind the talented Lilac. She should have derived benefit from that and can improve.

How to play it: Excelindeed WIN.

Race 6 - 3:50PM JOHNNIE ROBERTS MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Cross Your Heart finished second on debut at this track back in February then won two on end in good style, also at Wyong. She ran second as favourite here in April before being spelled and has had two trials in preparation for this return. She’s ready to sprint well fresh.

Dangers: 2. Fire Star resumed from a spell with a second at Kembla Grange after racing on the speed and battling on soundly. He’s won one and been placed in a further four starts, and should give these plenty to run down. 8. After Match resumed from a spell with a dominant victory at Hawkesbury when racing on the speed throughout, then he led when a solid second at the same track last time out. 9. Opito Ballerina failed to fire at Kembla Grange before being spelled but has had two trials leading into this and a forward showing would not surprise.

How to play it: Cross Your Heart WIN.

Race 7 - 4:25PM DOMELAND MONA LISA STAKES (1350 METRES)

7. Hellavadancer has had four runs back from a spell with each of them being in city grade. She resumed with a fourth at Rosehill, then was placed twice at Randwick and Rosehill, before hitting the line powerfully to score at Rosehill when last produced. She is up in grade for this but her form can’t be faulted and she can measure up.

Dangers: 4. Terra Mater has a great record with six wins and seven placings from 15 starts. She resumed from a spell with a narrow second behind Kazou at Rosehill, and has drawn well in this with Nash Rawiller taking the ride. 11. Pajanti had a solid record before resuming from a spell with a win at this track two weeks ago when she raced on the speed and was dominant in scoring. She’s up in grade here but should make an impact. 10. Tulsi debuted for a new stable with a second at Randwick when only claimed late. She should have derived benefit from that and is a serious threat.

How to play it: Hellavadancer EACH WAY.

Race 8 - 5:00PM CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES MIDWAY BM64 HCP (1350 METRES)

6. Foolish settled back in the field at this track last time out but powered home down the centre in the straight to score a dominant victory. He only needs to repeat that performance to be figuring in the finish again here.

Dangers: 2. Etched In Time resumes from a spell here having won at Nowra before being spelled and at Kembla Grange two starts before that. His two trials leading into this have been good and this looks well within his reach. 4. Drama Dodger hasn’t been beaten far at this track and Muswellbrook in her last two starts and is not out of this. 7. Tender Streak ran second to subsequent winner Northern Eyes at Hawkesbury last time out and a repeat of that would have her in the finish of this.

How to play it: Foolish WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 4 (4) The Act.
Race 6 (3) Cross Your Heart.

Best Value:
Race 7 (7) Hellavandancer.
