John Schell's Tips For Kembla Grange (Tuesday)

By John Schell

(Selections based on a heavy track)

Race 1 - 1:35PM THE WARRA CLUB CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2000 METRES):

1. Cormac T ran well at Rosehill two starts ago before fighting on strongly to score at Hawkesbury last time out. He’s an import with plenty of upside and should be further improved for this and take plenty of beating against this company.

Dangers: 8. She’s Got Veuve won well at Newcastle two starts ago then didn’t have the best of luck when a last start fourth at Gosford. Expect a bold showing here. 2. Hiawatha is an import having its first start back from a break here and bears close watching. 5. Dunaloce won at Newcastle three starts ago and has been placed in both runs since then. She should run well again here.

How to play it: Cormac T WIN.

Race 2 - 2:10PM CARLTON DRY 3.5% MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES):

2. Summons resumed from a spell at this track last time out for a new stable and he hit the line well before he peaked on his run late when finishing second. He should have benefited from that run and gets his chance to go one better here.

Dangers: 1. Devon County has been placed in two of four starts and resumed from a spell here. He was close-up when third to Doncaster winner Celestial Legend in a recent trial and should take a power of beating here. 5. Primo has finished fourth in all three of his starts and is ready to run well again here, while 4. Trophy is on debut for the Anthony Cummings stable and could show up after a number of trials.

How to play it: Summons WIN.

Race 3 - 2:50PM PERONI CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

3. Unstopabull was a winner at this track last September when on debut. He’s raced well since then, having been placed in a further three of his five subsequent starts. He’s resuming here and should be primed to run well again while fresh.

Dangers: 2. Party Doll has a solid record from a lightly raced career. She resumed with a second at Newcastle and only needs to run up to that effort to be a leading chance here. 5. Nightingale led to score at Newcastle before being spelled and resumes here on the back of a couple of solid trials. She should run well here. 8. Cinematic Star looks the best of the other two runners.

How to play it: Unstopabull WIN.

Race 4 - 3:25PM CARLTON DRAUGHT MIDWAY MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES):

6. American Starlet debuted at Newcastle and ran second and only needs to repeat that effort to be a leading chance here.

Dangers: 8. Midnight Affair was midfield on the Beaumont track at Newcastle when resuming and has claims on that effort. 4. Point Out was placed two starts ago and is not out of this with a repeat of that. 5. Adelaide Stryker ran well enough in a trial in December to be rated a place chance here.

How to play it: American Starlet WIN.

Race 5 - 4:05PM CANADIAN CLUB 2YO MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES):

1. Catoggio has finished fourth in both his starts either side of a spell in Melbourne and Sydney. He has the talent to give this a shake.

Dangers: 6. Skogafoss and 13. Zeitung are stablemates from the Godolphin stable of James Cummings and both warrant respect with the scratchings of the other two prospective runners from the stable. 7. Broadcast Boogie was placed at Gosford last time out and is not out of this.

How to play it: Catoggio WIN.

Race 6 - 4:40PM HAPPY 21ST DARBY SHEEHAN BM 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES):

8. De Forerunner is resuming from a spell in this and comes into this on the back of a solid trial.

Dangers: 10. November Falls is first-up from a spell and has a good overall record. She can sprint well fresh here. 11. Proud Image was placed at Wyong when last produced and is a chance in this on that performance, while 16. Bully For You won well at Newcastle on Saturday and is on the quick back-up.

How to play it: De Forerunner EACH WAY.

Race 7 - 5:15PM BALTER PROVINCIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1500 METRES):

3. Flying Bandit ran well on debut at Hawkesbury when hitting the line well. He backed that up with a strong finishing in at Goulburn last time out and is primed to go in with the job here.

Dangers: 6. Bush Telegraph was a good winner on debut at Hawkesbury before hitting the line well again at the same track last time out to finish third. She looks to have talent and is well worth including among the among the main chances here. 7. Joint Mission scored here last time out against a subsequent winner and is worth plenty of thought again, while 10. Really Motivated is resuming from a spell on the back of two trials.

How to play it: Flying Bandit WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 2 (2) Summons.
Race 3 (2) Unstopabull.

Best Value:
Race 6 (8) De Forerunner.
