John Schell's Tips For Kembla Grange (Thursday)

By John Schell

Selections based on a soft track

Race 1 - 12:05PM JOIN THE WARRA CLUB TODAY 2YO MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

1. Alpine Ski is a colt on debut and has had a number of trials leading into this. His latest two trials have been very good and this looks a nice race to start his career.

Dangers: 4. Fortingall is having his first start and has looked good in his trials. He should run well here if he can run up to those efforts. 6. Jamarni is a recent trial winner and should be ready to run well on debut. 7. Penalties is also on debut and has had one trial to prepare for this.

How to play it: Alpine Ski WIN.

Race 2 - 12:40PM KEMBLA GRANGE SUPPORTING EQUIMILLION MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

5. Flying Chevrolet had solid form in her initial preparation before resuming with a down the track effort in a Wyong maiden. She’s drawn the rails here and is capable of a sharp improvement.

Dangers: 1. Ilovenews has been around the money in each of his three starts and only needs to run up to that in order to be a top chance in this. 2. California Waves is on debut and has had a solid grounding for this with a number of trials. 3. Scoundrel debuted with a third at Newcastle and has shown enough ability to be rated a chance in this.

How to play it: Flying Chevrolet EACH WAY.

Race 3 - 1:15PM BECOME AN ITC MEMBER TODAY SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

12. Pierant was resuming from a spell when he finished second at Hawkesbury when last produced and beaten less than half a length. That form looks solid for this event.

Dangers: 9. Cheergal has only had four starts but has been placed in three of them. She wasn’t beaten far at Canterbury last time out and a repeat of that would have her hard to hold out in this. 5. Mega Fight has shown plenty of ability in his career and has six placings from 12 starts. He is knocking on the door for a win. 10. Denote has been placed in two of his eight starts and has the ability to show up in the minor money again here.

How to play it: Pierant WIN.

Race 4 - 1:55PM 2024 RACING'S NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS C1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

4. Vivezza had solid form early in her career and was placed in her first three starts back from a spell before breaking through with a dominant Scone victory. She can go on with the job here.

Dangers: 3. Irish Bliss was a winner at this track three starts ago, and since followed a second at Scone with a fourth at Hawkesbury. He’s racing well enough to be rated a chance here. 6. California Sunrise was a winner at Hawkesbury when hitting the line well and since then finished second at Newcastle when again running well. She looms as a good chance in this. 10. Scarli Japali is yet to miss a place from four starts and is a last start Goulburn winner.

How to play it: Vivezza WIN.

Race 5 - 2:35PM CARLTON DRY MID 3.5 MIDWAY 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

3. Zoomorphic finished second in his most recent trial in what was a solid display. He’s a well-bred galloper and has the ability to win this on debut.

Dangers: 6. Oh Diamond Lil was placed at Hawkesbury on debut and since ran fourth at Canterbury against tougher grade than what she faces here. She looks tough to beat here. 10. Koura Whira debuted with a down the track effort at Wyong but has had two solid trials since then and she warrants thought in this. 8. Mythical Moochi was placed at this track and Goulburn either side of a spell and he should be thereabouts again with a repeat of that.

How to play it: Zoomorphic WIN.

Race 6 - 3:10PM THE GONG SPRING CARNIVAL IS COMING PROV. BM68 HCP (1200M)

4. Satness led them up at Hawkesbury when resuming from a spell and while he disappointed in that event when weakening he is capable of improving sharply in this.

Dangers: 9. French Marine has a solid record and finished fourth at Canterbury last time out on the back of three straight placings. This looks well within his reach. 10. Headstock was disappointing here last time out but has shown enough talent to be worth plenty of thought. 1. Selfless Act is resuming from a spell and has a solid record to suggest she will take plenty of beating in this company.

How to play it: Satness EACH WAY.

Race 7 - 3:45PM BALTER BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

1. Kiribati resumed from a spell and raced on the speed when fighting on too well to score a strong win at Hawkesbury. He’s won three from 10 and can win again here if he runs up to his best.

Dangers: 2. Rebel Dean has been placed in city grade on a number of occasions and wasn’t beaten too far when down the track at Warwick Farm when last produced. He has claims in this. 4. Welcome Gypsy resumed from a spell with a third at Newcastle and followed that up with a fifth at Canterbury. That form looks strong for this. 7. Amazing Nicci hit the line well to score at Nowra last time out and can make an impact again with a repeat of that performance.

How to play it: Kiribati WIN.

Race 8 - 4:20PM EVERGREEN TURF CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

3. Presides had been racing well enough before breaking through to score a win at Scone last time out when dominating from the front. He can go on with the job here.

Dangers: 1. True To Form is a French import and he has shown enough in his race starts to be considered a leading contender here. 7. Aunty Rene is resuming from a spell and her trials have been good leading into this. 5. Close Encounter was placed at Moruya last time out when hitting the line well and can be placed again here without surprising.

How to play it: Presides WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 4 (4) Vivezza.
Race 8 (1) Presides.

Best Value:
Race 2 (5) Flying Chevrolet.
