Ible's Championships Horse Steps Out At Kembla (Saturday)

Kembla Grange trainer Joseph Ible is keen to see the promising Mil Ciento put his hand up for a Provincial Championships tilt next year but not before the likeable type prepares to chase a well-earned win on home soil this Saturday.

Mil Ciento ($7.50 on TAB) will fly the flag for Ible's stable at Kembla when he contests the Melina Griffiths Lawyers Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

The son of Super One is having his fourth consecutive start this preparation at the track and has been a fast-finishing third at each of his past two runs over 1000m and 1200m respectively.

Mil Ciento finished within a length of the winner on both of those occasions with Ible hopeful he can finally break through for a deserved victory this weekend before targeting bigger things in the new year.

"He has been running great but just needs luck," Ible said.

"Hopefully there is a good tempo on for him on Saturday and he can be finishing off strongly.

"We are hoping he could measure up to be a Provincial Championships horse next year so want to test him a bit before then.

"We plan to give him one more run after this to test him over 1400m then start thinking about next prep."

Star rider Alysha Collett will continue her association with Mal Ciento but will need to overcome a tricky draw in barrier 10 if she is to salute on Saturday. TAB rates Mal Ciento a $7.50 chance to chalk up his second career victory.

Ible had also accepted with the talented Loving Cilla at Kembla but will instead travel to Rosehill where he will contest the Midway Handicap (2000m). The son of Reliable Man gets in with a lightweight of 53kg with former champion Kembla Grange apprentice Brock Ryan booked to ride.

"She is going great but just needs a bit of luck," Ible said. "I think it is a winnable race for her and the form out of that Kembla race has held up quite well."

Meanwhile, back on home turf, Kembla will play host to the fourth heat of the Summer Provincial Series - A Class 5 Plate (1500m).

Newcastle trainer Kris Lees boasts a typically strong hand with even money favourite Acquitted joined by Ella Te Ama ($17) in the main race, which jumps at 4.56pm.

Stablemate Spangler ($4.60) is running at Canterbury Park tonight.
