Hawkesbury Winners - Tips For Thursday 30th June

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday’s Hawkesbury meeting. Selections based on a good track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 12:15PM SKY RACING BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (2100 METRES)

7. Awesome Wonder had no luck last start at Kembla 12 days ago and should’ve finished closer. The three-year-old filly got shuffled back at a critical stage before the final turn and then was checked/blocked for most of the straight. Further, once clear at the furlong pole, she picked herself up, hit the line hard, and ran the race's second-fastest final 200m split in 11.96. The John O’Shea trained galloper has a strong starting price profile and receives an advantageous weight swing on some of her key rivals. In addition, she is lightly raced, maps to get all favours and brings competitive figures.

Dangers: 3. Stella Glow has been a model of consistency this preparation and bolted in last start at Newcastle 10 days ago. The filly had all favours but won by a decisive 6.8 lengths, and the clock backed up the winning margin with the race rating well relative to the day. The three-year-old has a favourable map and can make the step-in grade. 1. Our Bambino beat Awesome Wonder last start and maintained a long wide-sustained run to score. He goes up in weight but is proven at the trip and will undoubtedly be running on hard. 4. Vyner is hard to catch but has figures to win this race.

How to play it: Awesome Wonder WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Awesome Wonder runs second at Kembla on June 18

Race 2 - 12:50PM TAB.COM.AU MAIDEN PLATE (1800 METRES)

The Chris Waller trained galloper 3. Count On Me had genuine excuses last start at Wyong but tried hard and ran on well into second placing. The gelding started hard in the market, but he lost his spot/momentum at the 800m mark when the speed came out of the race, which in turn set him too much of a task to reel in the eventual winner. Moreover, that race rated highly relative to the day after adjusting for age, class and additional factors historically. The three-year-old produced his career peak figure at this track/distance last preparation, will roll forward, and jockey Hugh Bowman sticks.

Dangers: 6. Sebrossa got too far back in a moderate tempo last start and ran on hard. The gelding improved significantly with the blinkers back on and ran the race’s fastest final 400m/200m splits in 24.52/12.52. The step-up in distance suits, and he is set to peak third-up. 8. Pioneer Lass deserves to break through for her maiden win after racing all prep consistently. The three-year-old filly is back in distance but will stay the trip. 9. Queenmaker has raced in stronger grade her last two starts but has failed. She returns to her home track and is a key late market watch. 5. Metaphysics found trouble on debut and is worth adding to all exotics.

How to play it: Count On Me WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Count On Me runs second at Wyong on June 16

Race 3 - 1:25PM ASBESTOS DISEASES FOUNDATION OF AUST MAIDEN (1300 METRES)

10. To His Credit contested the Group 3 Schweppervescence (1400m) last preparation but failed due to the torrential conditions and was immediately spelled. The two-year-old had factors against him in all three starts in his first campaign but has an untapped ability. His debut run had hidden merit and was checked/blocked at a critical stage second-up. The colt always gave the impression he would come back improved after a spell and has trialled well enough leading into this event. He maps well, the big track suits and expect him to be savaging the line.

Dangers: 4. Miss Mya had every chance on debut at Wyong 14 days ago but raced well and beat the rest easily. The three-year-old ran the fastest final 400m/200m splits of the entire meeting in 22.68/11.51. She will undoubtedly be fitter, and the extra distance suits. 5. Affidavit has been gelded and returned in good order at the trials. The Godolphin galloper is wound up for this and expect a bold showing. Add 2. King Adviso to trifectas and first fours with the blinkers coming off, which may help with his racing manners.

How to play it: To His Credit WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

To His Credit runs second in a trial at Randwick on June 14

Race 4 - 2:05PM BRUCE THORNE MEMORIAL 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

2. Regal Pom started a well-backed $4.20-$3.80 favourite at Warwick Farm 29 days ago but pulled up lame and didn’t handle the testing conditions. The three-year-old gelding raced well/consistently in time/sectional merit races last preparation and has a strong starting price profile. In addition, he has dominant ratings relative to his rivals and can bounce back onto a drier track with the step up in distance suiting. Each-way.

Dangers: 1. Beirut Miss beat home Regal Pom on debut and was an unlucky runner, albeit starting $11 in the market. The three-year-old filly proved her first-up effort was no fluke and beat the rest easily in a fast-time race at Warwick Farm 17 days ago. She will need luck from the draw, but her ratings suggest she is ready to peak third-up. 8. Ovoid and 9. Shakakhan look ideally placed rising to 1400m onto a bigger track, and both will be hitting the line hard. Add 12. Arale and 4. Feirme Prince to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Regal Pom E/W ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Regal Pom last start at Warwick Farm on June 1

Race 5 - 2:40PM LIVING TURF MAIDEN PLATE (1000 METRES)

10. Glint Of Silver was heavily backed first-up $4.20-$3.60 at Goulburn 13 days ago but had too much to do and ran on well into fourth. The two-year-old colt was restrained early from a wide draw and got too far back. Further, he sprinted the entire meeting fastest 400m-200m split whilst racing in the inferior ground in 11.35. He will be fitter for that effort, a drier track suits, and jockey Hugh Bowman rides for the first time. Additionally, with the anticipated genuine tempo, he should get his chance and can hit the line hard.

Dangers: 4. Secret Hunter and 5. Notifies come out of the same race at this track 18 days ago and will both roll forward. Forgive 7. Taurasi’s last start where she was slow to recover and debutante 11. Monte Invincible has trialled well enough.

How to play it: Glint Of Silver WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Glint Of Silver runs fourth at Goulburn on June 17

Race 6 - 3:15PM ST JOHNS PARK BOWLING CLUB CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

3. Dollar Magic was brave first-up, sitting outside the leader in a strong tempo at Kensington 15 days ago and never shirked the task to the line finishing fourth. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day, and the decisive margins confirmed the quality. The three-year-old filly improved significantly second-up last preparation by approximately 3.5 lengths, and repeating that effort will make her hard to catch. Additionally, the wide draw is of little concern as there is only one turn from the 1000m chute start, and she drops back to provincial grade.

Dangers: Forgive 9. Sweet Mery’s last start where she was slowly away and raced in the inferior ground. The lightly raced filly has strong form lines surrounding the smart two-year-old In Secret, and she can bounce back here. 7. Wonderwomen rises in grade but receives almost an identical race setup to when she broke through for her maiden win at this track/distance 18 days ago. Add 8. Choisirs Choice and 12. Symos Girl to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Dollar Magic WIN ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Dollar Magic runs fourth at Kensington on June 15

Race 7 - 3:50PM LANDER TOYOTA CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

1. Destiny’s Bounty resumed at Warwick Farm 17 days ago and won in dominant fashion producing a career peak figure. The John O’Shea trained galloper did it on both ends leading at a fast pace and then sprinting away from his rivals to win in style. That race rated the highest overall relative to the meeting when historically comparing time, class and additional factors. Further, the decisive margins confirmed the quality. The three-year-old gelding has gone to a new level, brings the best last start figure, is racing at his home track and has a positive map. Hard to beat with even luck.

Dangers: 3. Pole Position looms as the main threat after a solid return where he beat the rest easily. The gelding loomed to win but just peaked on his run and gave every indication there was improvement to come. Moreover, the extra distance suits, and he brings a competitive ratings profile. 4. Tocomah is ready to peak third-up after an honest effort last start where he was 28 days between runs. 7. The Himalayas raced wide, broke through for his maiden win at this track/distance first-up and ran one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting in 11.76. He is up in grade but maps well, and jockey Hugh Bowman rides for the first time.

How to play it: Destiny’s Bounty WIN ($2.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Destiny’s Bounty wins at Warwick Farm on June 13

Race 8 - 4:25PM HRC MOTEL BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Tricky middle-distance event to finish. 5. Glamour Fox has been a victim of wet tracks this preparation and has struggled in the testing conditions. Expect a form reversal on a drier surface where she produces all her career peak figures and has had a tick-over trial between runs. The five-year-old mare is a consistent type and drops in grade.

Dangers: 6. Viren has had genuine excuses this prep and was well backed $4.20-$3.40 last start at Kensington, but the vet report found post-race issues. He can bounce back from a soft draw and must be respected in this class. 4. Roseirro hit the line hard to score last start and can win again. The seven-year-old gelding is rock-hard fit and in career-best form. 3. Bet Red maps to get all favours and is ready to peak third-up. 8. Adios Steve was checked/blocked at a critical stage last start and 10. Vanburg can improve up in distance.

How to play it: Glamour Fox WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) & Viren WIN ($10 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
