Gosford Winners - Tips For Tuesday 14th November

By John Schell

Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 1:10PM BEATS'N'EATS @ TEG CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (2100 METRES):

6. Rapid Impact has had four runs back from a spell and two starts ago he finished fourth at Kembla Grange behind subsequent VRC Oaks placegetter Aethelflaed when only beaten 3.3 lengths. He since hit the line well for a close-up third at Wyong. He steps up to 2100m here and should get a soft run from the good draw.

Dangers: 1. Supertrail is a former Victorian which won on debut for this stable at Muswellbrook and has since finished third and fourth at Tamworth and Scone. He must be considered one of the leading chances here. 3. Gallivanter has been just behind the placings in two recent Newcastle runs and warrants respect, while 7. Blue As Blue is on the improve.

How to play it: Rapid Impact EACH WAY.

Race 2 - 1:45PM SPRING LOADED @ TEG 10 FEB F&M BM 64 HCP (1200 METRES):

5. Yankee One had three trials in which she looked good in each before debuting with an easy victory at this track last month. She hit the line well to win that day and the extra 100m here looks made to order. From a good barrier Yankee One gets her chance to remain unbeaten.

Dangers: 2. Champers Girl resumed from a spell with a solid Queanbeyan win then disappointed as an odds-on favourite at the same track last time out. She can bounce back here. 6. Successful followed a couple of placings with a good Bathurst win at her latest start and she has claims again. 4. Silent Raindrops hit the line well here last time out and she can figure on her best form.

How to play it: Yankee One WIN.

Race 3 - 2:20PM EAST COAST BEVERAGES MAIDEN HANDICAP (1600 METRES):

3. Avonview went down narrowly at this track four starts ago and hasn’t been far away since, including a placing at Hawkesbury. He should figure against these.

Dangers: 10. Typhoon Ray wasn’t disgraced after leading at Kembla Grange at his last start and he can figure in the placings. 5. Glebe debuted at Kembla Grange with a down the track effort but is capable of improvement here. 11. You And I has had mixed form but could be placed here at best.

How to play it: Avonview WIN.

Race 4 - 2:55PM CANADIAN CLUB MIDWAY BENCHMARK 68 HANDICAP (1000 METRES):

2. Border Control was resuming from a spell at this track on October 26 and after settling worse than midfield he powered to the line to score a decisive victory. He has drawn a little awkwardly in this but he is rarely far from the action and looks the one to beat again.

Dangers: 1. Shotmaker was resuming when finishing fourth to Border Control last time out and with the benefit of improvement he looms as a chance again. 4. Flower Press is first-up from a spell here and was a winner at Hawkesbury two starts before being spelled. She’s had a trial to prepare for this. 5. Stenson Wallman won both of his starts at Muswellbrook midway through the year and returns to racing here. He should not be underestimated.

How to play it: Border Control WIN.

Race 5 - 3:35PM INDUSTREE GROUP MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES):

13. Tigon Princess had two trials earlier in the year and has had another two recent trials in preparation for this debut. She ran second in a Gosford heat before scoring on the Beaumont track at Newcastle. She has the services of Dylan Gibbons here and is ideally drawn in gate one.

Dangers: 6. Ravisher wasn’t disgraced in two city starts earlier in the year and has had two trials to prepare for this return. She can be expected to perform well fresh. 2. Here Comes Hogan debuts here on the back of two trials and is worth some thought. 8. Uncut Gem has place prospects.

How to play it: Tigon Princess WIN.

Race 6 - 4:10PM ROCK AT THE RACES @ TEG 23 MARCH MAIDEN HCP (1100 M):

8. Mathkhoora had two starts earlier this year and is resuming from a spell here. She was outclassed on debut when a well beaten last in a four-horse field in the Reisling Stakes, then showed some improvement when midfield in a strong Warwick Farm maiden won by Dipsy Doodle. Mathkhoora has been given two trials to prepare for this and she’s been close-up in both.

Dangers: 1. Fire Tribe performed well on debut at Hawkesbury in May, then was spelled after a midfield Warwick Farm performance. He’s had two trials leading into this return and is primed for a bold showing. 4. Chief Witness is on debut and his recent trials have been good enough for him to be rated a chance. 15. Tannenburg is primed for this on the back of some solid trials and shouldn’t be underestimated.

How to pay it: Mathkhoora WIN.

R7 - 4:45PM TROPPO @ TEG 18 NOV BM 64 HCP - HEAT OF THE RISING STAR (1200 M):

5. Kadall had her only two starts in June and July and followed a debut second with a narrow win when leading throughout as favourite. She’s had two trials to prepare for this and is drawn ideally in barrier one.

Dangers: 6. Calmer Karma is a winner of two of his last four starts, including a Wagga victory last time out when racing on the speed. He can give cheek again here. 10. Appetite For Risk hasn’t been far away in recent runs and is capable of figuring at his best. 8. Geewiz Johnny has the services of Dylan Gibbons which is an advantage.

How to play it: Kadall WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 5 (13) Tigon Princess.
Race 6 (8) Mathkhoora.

Best Value:
Race 1 (6) Rapid Impact.
