Gosford Winners - Tips For Thursday 2nd November

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday's Gosford meeting. Selections based on a good track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 1:10PM PLUIM GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

3. Invincible Spy was a strong winner on debut at Newcastle 16 days ago, and he started hard in the market. The three-year-old was in a duel for the majority of the straight, but he kept finding under pressure and showed late strength to clock solid closing splits. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day after adjustments, and the big gap to third confirmed the quality. The Waterhouse & Bott galloper can step off that performance, and the rise to 1600m second-up is ideal. He maps to control the pace of the race and the tight-turning track suits.

Dangers: 1. Genetic Freak was a savage drifter late in the trade first-up at Newcastle, and he wasn't suited to the race shape. To his credit, he ran on well and will undoubtedly improve off that effort; expect an aggressive ride from the awkward draw. 2. Highborn Harry drops significantly in grade, and he has a positive race setup here. He can bounce back and can rate to win. Add 7. Princess Cruizer, who is rock-hard fit and will be running on.

How to play it: Invincible Spy WIN ($2.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Invincible Spy wins at Newcastle on October 17

Race 2 - 1:50PM EVE ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1900 METRES)

1. Wild Canary has continued to improve this preparation, and he was honest in defeat last start at Hawkesbury when running second. The gelding showed natural pace to lead at an even tempo throughout and he never shirked his task in the straight. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day, and the margins throughout confirmed the quality. He is racing well, maps to control the speed and repeating his last start figure/performance will put him in the finish.

Dangers: 7. Rapid Impact hasn't won in a long time, but he has run a consistent figure over this trip that lines up well against his opposition. Alysha Collett sticks and he maps well. 4. Heaven Bound is on a quick backup and raced well at this track seven days ago. She can improve again and deserves to be at the top of the market. 2. Unquestionably will be fitter and more suited to 1900m.

How to play it: Wild Canary WIN ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Wild Canary runs second at Hawkesbury on October 19

Race 3 - 2:25PM SPRING LOADED @ TEG 10 FEB BM64 HCP (1900 METRES)

3. Majestic Style was heavily backed late in the trade last start at this track, and she won with a bit of style. The mare was run to suit, but she sprinted hard once a gap appeared and went through the line full of energy. Further, her ratings/sectional profile suggests the rise to 1900m is ideal third-up. Additionally, she maps to have all favours and expect her to be in the finish with even luck.

Dangers: 1. Lady Redwood was well-ridden to score last start at Warwick Farm in a stronger grade. She brings multiple winning figures into this event and is proven over the distance. 4. Noble Empress had every chance but tried hard in defeat behind subsequent placegetter Territory Express. 6. Tornado Light brings an SP and weight advantage into this event over some of her rivals from last start.

How to play it: Majestic Style WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Majestic Style wins at Gosford on October 5

Race 4 - 3:05PM NSW JOCKEYS' ASSOCIATION MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

2. Keysborough was caught out on a limb working last start at Newcastle and tried hard in defeat. Further, he loomed to win but peaked on his run over the concluding stages. He receives a much more positive race setup here with an inside draw and is ready to peak third-up. Each-way.

Dangers: 1. Storm The Ramparts resumes as a gelding and has shown speed to win two trials. He looks to have come back improved, has multiple winning figures for this event and will be hard to hold out. Market watch on debutante 4. Flying Rani and 3. Belyaev, who comes through a strong time race.

How to play it: Keysborough E/W ($10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Keysborough runs third at Newcastle on October 14

Race 5 - 3:40PM INDUSTREE GROUP MIDWAY MAIDEN PLATE (1600 METRES)

Leaning towards 7. Gunslinger who has a solid platform and is coming out of time/sectional merit races this campaign. The David Payne galloper wasn't suited to the sit/sprint race shape last start but built through his gears well and closed off ok. He profiles well for this event and will be strong at the end of the 1600m.

Dangers: 4. Star Legacy was run to suit last start at Hawkesbury, but he hit the line well and recorded one of the fastest final 200m splits of the meeting. He must jump from 1300m-1600m, but all key indicators suggest that should pose no issue. 11. Missayter is a knockout chance and is rock-hard fit. Market watch on 8. Siberian Bull, who is still in his first preparation but has continued to improve.

How to play it: Gunslinger WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Gunslinger runs sixth at Kembla on October 21

Race 6 - 4:20PM SPRING LOADED @ TEG 10 FEB SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

5. Speymalt returns here with a solid profile for this event and is well-placed. The mare showed a sharp turn of foot and went through the line full of energy in a fast time heat at Rosehill. Further, she brings strong form lines/figures and repeating her first-up effort from last campaign will make her hard to hold out. Expecting her to storm over the top of her rivals with even luck.

Dangers: 3. New Forest is coming through an extremely high-rating race with the form out of that race since being proven. He drops back to the provincial circuit and expect him to roll forward and give a sight. 1. Tsarism resumes and has a positive race setup from the inside draw. Debutante 9. Up The Country has speed and add 2. Jared to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Speymalt WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds).

Speymalt runs third in a trial at Rosehill on October 13

Race 7 - 4:55PM SNEDDON BROS CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Theo Legion resumed over an unsuitable distance and had excuses. He can settle much closer, stepping out to 1200m, and can improve sharply. Additionally, he won second-up last preparation and he can rate to win. Each-way.

Dangers: 6. Surfers Royale brings a solid profile to this event and has had two trials leading into it. The blinkers come off and expect him to roll forward. 1. Cool Lad is rock-hard fit and dropping back to the provincial circuit suits. Add 9. Tim's Principal to trifectas and first fours.

How to play it: Theo Legion E/W ($10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Theo Legion last start at Newcastle on October 14

Race 8 - 5:35PM TROPPO @ TEG 18 NOV F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

4. Miss Faberge resumes, and she has trialled well when running second in a recent heat at Randwick. Moreover, the four-year-old showed speed and went through the line, not extended. She won first-up last preparation, has very strong form lines for this event and is a versatile mare. In addition, she has multiple winning figures for this event and has a solid SP profile at the provincial level.

Dangers: 3. Just Gisella is the only last-start winner engaged in the field and brings a fitness edge. She is a lightly raced galloper and expect a bold showing. Key market watch on 7. Silent Raindrops who has performed below expectations this prep but does have the ability. Add 1. Cecilia, who draws well.

How to play it: Miss Faberge WIN ($3.60 TAB Fixed Odds).

Miss Faberge runs second in a trial at Randwick on October 6

Best Bet: Race 1 # 3 – Invincible Spy

Next Best: Race 6 # 5 - Speymalt
