Gosford Winners - Tips For Friday 14th January

By Brad Gray

Tips and race by race preview by Brad Gray for Gosford.

Race 1 - 3:05PM INDUSTREE GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

3. Rock The Bells has a string of placings to his name, finishing second or third in his last six starts. The four-year-old strikes this mile Class 1 third up and he kept closing last start over the mile off a six week freshen. Gets another chance.

Dangers: 1. Handsome is the big unknown. The British import profiles more of a genuine staying type, and his Australian trials suggest as much too, but his class should see him run well. 2. Spaltet drops back in trip and grade.

How to play it: Rock The Bells WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 2 - 3:45PM EVE SECURITY SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE (1200 METRES)

Expecting debutant 2. Blueskin to be in the finish on the back of two eye catching trials. Gerald Ryan and Stirling Alexiou share a terrific strike rate at this track and with first starters at provincial level. A couple of key scratchings sees him an odds on favourite.

Dangers: Well bred filly 12. Miss Glenn tackled her debut having impressed at the trials and fought out the finish. She was subsequently very poor at Canterbury. Forgive her that. Drawn to advantage as she has early speed.

How to play it: Blueskin WIN ($1.70 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 3 - 4:20PM SNEDDON BROS PROV & CTRY MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

3. Miss Tambo was beaten fair and square at Muswellbrook last start but there was a sizable gap back to the rest of the field. That was on the back of a very speedy Scone trial. Drawn barrier 1 with Josh Parr in the saddle, she’ll be hard to catch.

Dangers: 2. Bay Of Kotor started $151 on debut at Newcastle and she ran fairly. Like the way she has trialled since. There’s a long tail to this maiden so debutant 1. Leanders Dream comes into consideration.

How to play it: Miss Tambo WIN ($1.55 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 4 - 4:55PM PLUIM GROUP F&M BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Smokeshow looked a touch plain first up at this track two weeks ago but the winner Nasturtium jumped $1.24 and is a very sharp sprinter on the way through. The blinkers go on Smokeshow and she gets out to 1200m.

Dangers: 5. Wolf Queen ran out a dominant winner at this track three weeks ago to break her maiden at short odds. She jumps from 1000m to 1200m but maps to put herself right on top of the speed.

How to play it: Smokeshow WIN ($3 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: ODDS

Race 5 - 5:30PM ALL BLACK & TOP HAT MAIDEN PLATE (1900 METRES)

4. Royal Court was supported at double figure odds on debut over a mile and he did his best work late. Chris Waller steps the son of Lonhro straight out to 1900m at his second outing. Can only improve off that run which makes him the horse to beat.

Dangers: 5. Amarantz comes off a forgivable ninth last start when momentarily held up. The blinkers go on for the first time. 7. Flying Witness was beaten at $1.70 at this track two weeks ago, but she still ran well.

How to play it: Royal Court WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 6 - 6:10PM BIG BOY NANAS CG&E BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

4. Secretively got into a midfield position last start in Midway company and she held her own without ever threatening. Expect her to settle much closer in this. Just has to prove herself running out a strong 1200m.

Dangers: There is no such distance query around 3. Loch Lomand. He comes back from 1350m, which creates a query in itself. Thought perhaps he was looking for a mile. 8. Shadow Devil won well on debut.

How to play it: Secretively WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT

Race 7 - 6:40PM TANTI FINANCIAL SERVICES BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

10. Way To The Stars put a gap on his rivals at Nowra on debut suggesting he’s capable of tearing through the grades. Matt Smith tipped him straight out after that win. His two trials since then have teased that he has returned better again. Follow him.

Dangers: 8. Zetarita has won two of her four starts and Kris Lees accepted for Rosehill on Saturday with her too. Expect sharp improvement from 3. Tudor Music. She is better than what she produced last start.

How to play it: Way To The Stars WIN ($1.80 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT
