Gary Harley's Late Mail For Wyong (Thursday)

By Gary Harley

Talented jockey Keagan Latham has not ridden at Wyong for more than three months but he has a good chance of riding a winner on the Central Coast track on Thursday.

Latham fractured his collarbone in a fall at Hawkesbury more than three months ago and he only returned to the saddle a week back.

Jockey Keagan Latham

He only has the one ride and he combines with fellow South African David Payne with the lightly raced Caboteur in The Battery World Wyong Metro and Provincial Maiden Plate (1600m).

The three-year-old son of So You Think has had four starts for two seconds. He led first up at Canterbury on a heavy track on November 26 only to be run down late.

The gelding has drawn well and he can race on the speed.

The Richard and Michael Freedman filly Estonia is my best bet in the opening event The Community Bank Wyong – Bendigo bank Maiden Plate (1350m).

Under the set weight conditions Estonia is thrown into the race with 55½ kgs and Jason Collett rides.

RACE 1 COMMUNITY BANK WYONG – BENDIGO BANK MAIDEN 1350M
Estonia is knocking on the door after seconds in all three starts this preparation. The filly was runner up to the smart Pono Kitoro on this track two starts back before a close second at Newcastle on November 23. She has drawn well and Jason Collett rides for the first time.

Stay Wealthy is a leader with placings in all four starts and Wizard Of Oz can fill a place.

SELECTIONS: 7 ESTONIA 2 STAY WEALTHY 5 WIZARD OF OZ

RACE 2 PAUL HILLS – THE AGENCY CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE 2100M
Ironic Miss is in career best form and she steps up to this longer trip for the first time. She was only beaten a length over 1850 metres on a heavy track at Newcastle on November 28. Three starts back the filly won a 1500 metre Muswellbrook Maiden.

Lady Redwood has been runner up in her past two starts and she will be hard to beat.

Conference Broke through last start and should run well.

SELECTIONS: 4 IRONIC MISS 6 LADY REDWOOD 1 CONFERENCE

RACE 3 BATTERY WORLD WYONG METRO & PROVINCIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1600M
Tailoring led and was run down late in a strong 1600 maiden here on November 25. This is his third run from a spell and he was beaten a neck in an 1850 metre Newcastle Maiden before a spell. It’s another good mount for Jason Collett.

Caboteur and stablemate Chappelli finished second and third respectively in the same race at Canterbury on November 26.

SELECTIONS: 4 TAILORING 6 CABOTEUR 7 CHAPPELLI

RACE 4 CENTRAL COAST UNITY BANK BENCHMARK 64 1600M
Lord Winston rises in class after an easy Newcastle Maiden in his second start on November 23. He was very impressive at Newcastle and will have no problem with the longer trip. He is the least experienced runner in the race but he is talented with a bright future.

Tim’s Principal is the class runner and is a winner in his only start on this track.

Bak Da Man is a former Victorian which bolted in at Port Macquarie last start.

SELECTIONS: 7 LORD WINSTON 1 TIM’S PRINCIPAL 3 BAK DA MAN

RACE 5 WYONG RUGBY LEAGUE CLUB GROUP MAIDEN PLATE 1000M
Lucky Sun resumes from a spell after two Randwick trial wins recently. He is a fast horse with two metropolitan placings during the winter. He has the rails barrier and Josh Parr who has ridden the gelding in all four starts has the mount.

One Way Street was narrowly beaten on debut on this track and he has a soft draw.

Compassionate had no luck last start.

SELECTIONS: 5 LUCKY SUN 2 ONE WAY STREET 9 COMPASSIONATE

RACE 6 SIGNARAMA TUGGERAH BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP 1000M
Tudor Music drops in class, has drawn well and has a 1 ½ kilogram claim. She was 3 ½ lengths behind Dragonstone on The Gong Day at Kembla last start. She finished fourth in fast time at Randwick on November 2. The mare has won on a soft track.

Omar was a last start Scone winner and is quick and Embeller resumes after a quiet trial.

SELECTIONS: 2 TUDOR MISS 1 OMAR 4 EMBELLER

RACE 7 McDONALD’S FAMILY CHIPS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200M
Shalstar is a promising 3 year old filly from Arrowfield facing the starter for the third time. On debut at Muswellbrook on November 2 she came from tenth at the top of the straight to go down by half a length. Last start she won a Gosford Maiden impressively.

Midori Beauty won his only start at Gosford in October coming from last in a field of ten.

The Chosen One resumes with a new trainer after a nice trial.

SELECTIONS: 9 SHALSTAR 2 MIDORI BEAUTY 10 THE CHOSEN ONE
