Early Deadline For Gosford's Belle Of The Turf Stakes

Nominations close at 11am on Wednesday (21st December) for Gosford’s Provincial Showcase, the Belle of the Turf Stakes returning to Gosford Race Club on Wednesday 28 December.

The 1600-metre race has a standing history at the club, running for more than 40 years.

This year the total prizemoney has increased to $240,000, thanks to Racing NSW bumping up its prize pool in 2022 across the state's tracks.

Last year’s feature race was taken out by Randwick’s Expat, the Mark Newnham-trained mare taking an early lead before claiming the Belle of the Turf Stakes.

Another major drawcard for the Group 3 meeting is the Gosford Guineas, which will be running alongside the Belle of the Turf Stakes.

Again, with the increased prize of $160,000 in total, the club hopes to stimulate more entries across the day.

In past years the Gosford Guineas has been a stepping stone, with runners later racing in Queensland’s Magic Millions.

There’s designated space at the venue for owners to celebrate their runners in comfort and style with access to bar, catering and betting facilities.

This significant meeting will complement the busy summer ahead at Gosford Race Club, with six racedays to follow until the end of February.

Remember, nominations for the Belle of the Turf Stakes close at 11am tomorrow.
