Trainer Joseph Ible is confident he's made the right call to return to a happy hunting ground with Cuban Granchico despite his classy campaigner being burdened with a heavy impost on home turf at Kembla Grange on Tuesday.
Ible elected to scratch his son of Casino Prince from Saturday's Midway event at Rosehill Gardens after drawing wide with Cuban Granchico instead set to contest the Mount Ousley Conditional Benchmark 68 Handicap (1400m).
Cuban Granchico will have to lump top weight of 61kg in his home track assignment but saves some of his best racing for Kembla, where all three of his career victories have come to date.
"He has carried big weights in the past and loves Kembla," Ible said.
"He has had six starts at the track for three wins and two seconds.
"With a good barrier with a good jockey on board, so we are very happy with him."
Cuban Granchico, a $5 equal favourite with TAB, will continue his partnership with Louise Day from the perfect inside draw.
Ible is also looking forward to the stable debut of Septime, which he believes could be his best winning chance of the card in the Figtree Midway Class 1 Handicap (1200m).
Septime ($6.50) started his career with Jean Dubois where he won once in seven starts before being purchased online and joining Ible's yard.
"I have been really happy with his work, he is just a nice horse and I think he can run a big race first-up," Ible said. "We got him online and I think he has got the ability to progress through his grades quite nicely.
"I think we had him pegged as a Midway sort of horse. He has had a trial at home and private jump out so I am pretty happy with how he is going."
Ible's day kicks off with Eltoroson ($11) chasing his first win in the Tarrawanna Provincial Maiden Plate (1600m). The son of Bull Point is coming off a career best performance when second in a mile race at the Sapphire Coast.
"I was a lot happier with the way he travelled in that race down the Sapphire Coast," Ible said. "He has got the blinkers this time will help him focus up a bit better."
Miss Adrenalin ($31) completes Ible's strong hand across the eight-race card in the Mount Kembla Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m).
She will need to jump from the outside of the field 16 but can reap the benefits of apprentice Olivia Chambers claim to get in with just 52.5kg.
"She will go around with the handy claim of Olivia Chambers," Ible said. "She gets in with no weight so we will see how she measures up.
"I would like to be positive on her so we will have a good look at the race and see how she maps."
