Wyong Winners - Tips For Thursday 11th April

By Nick Berney

Tips and race by race preview by Nick Berney for Thursday's Wyong meeting. Selections based on a soft/good track. Monitor for bias/pattern.

Race 1 - 12:15PM HMA GROUP MAIDEN PLATE (2100 METRES)

Hard to get away from 6. Icebreaker, who comes through a high-rating race, and he brings multiple winning figures into this event. The gelding resumed at this track 22 days ago and was outpaced up-tempo, but to his credit, he never shirked his task to the line whilst racing in the inferior ground. He'll relish the rise in trip, can roll forward and handles all conditions.

Dangers: 1. Eclair Dancer can improve by getting to optimal fitness third-up, and he can be within striking distance with the significant barrier change. 3. Hongkong Harmony has been up for a while but ran on well last start at Hawkesbury, albeit run to suit. The claim suits but does rise sharply in grade. Add 4. Pine Valley to wider exotics.

How to play it: Icebreaker WIN ($1.95 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 12:50PM HMA INSTRUMENTATION MIDWAY BM 68 HCP (1350 METRES)

Like 3. Chevron, who will look to make it back-to-back wins here after running slick time to break through for his maiden win last start at Kensington. The colt did have all favours, but he accelerated hard and ran solid closing splits. Additionally, he maps to have all favours, brings the best last start figure and repeating that rating, will make him hard to beat. Likeable profile.

Dangers: Forget 2. Baranof's last start at Rosehill, where he had cardiac arrhythmia, and he can bounce back here from barrier one. The geldin can rate to win and a drying surface suits. 5. Pennart has won two races in a row on the country circuit and deserves his chance at the provincial level. 8. Tip Top Timing resumes and is proven in this grade.

How to play it: Chevron WIN ($1.85 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 1:25PM HMA POWER GENERATION MAIDEN HCP (1350 METRES)

9. Black Tiara was brave in defeat last start at Newcastle after being 30 days between runs when running second. The mare was caught three-wide out on a limb throughout, but she tried hard in defeat, beating the rest easily and producing one of her career peak figures. Expect her to step off that effort with a much more favourable setup and she runs to a consistent rating that puts her in the finish.

Dangers: 11. More Voltage led at a fast pace last start at Hawkesbury and battled on ok to finish third. The tight-turning track suits and apprentice Jett Stanley sticks. 1. Jump In The Line is ready to peak third-up and maps to have all favours with a senior rider going on. 3. Jared returns to his home track and brings a solid SP profile relative to his rivals.

How to play it: Black Tiara WIN ($2.15 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 2:05PM HMA MATERIALS HANDLING SUPER MAIDEN PLATE (1350 METRES)

Expecting 5. Bellenth to improve sharply up in distance, and he will have benefited immensely from his debut run at Hawkesbury from a race experience perspective. The three-year-old was heavily backed but got too far back and ran on well to finish third, clocking the meeting's fastest final 200m split. Further, that race rated highly relative to the day and the margins confirmed the quality. He returns to his home track and maps to have all favours. Hard to hold out.

Dangers: The blinkers go back on for 7. Make A Call, and he is ready to peak third-up. 9. One Command is coming through a time race and maps positively. Respecting 5. Indiamo's debut SP at Muswellbrook and he would've benefited from that outing.

How to play it: Bellenth WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 2:40PM HMA FLOW & INDUSTRIAL CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1350 METRES)

8. Bestower always indicated she would come back improved in her second preparation, and she went out an impressive winner last campaign. She's had one soft trial leading into this, and first-up last prep, her run was full of merit in a high-rating race. Further, repeating that performance will make her hard to hold out with her closing speed. Key late market watch.

Dangers: 1. Wembanyama returned as a gelding this prep, and he ran smart time to win easily at Kembla Grange. He draws awkwardly but brings the best last-start figure and will be savaging the line. 1. Invaida Prince was heavily backed last start, and he has a tactical map advantage over some of his key rivals. 7. Parisian Rose will be fitter and add 15. Lease to wider exotics.

How to play it: Bestower WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 3:20PM HMA GEOTECHNICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

Leaning towards 2. Rum Diary, who has a tactical map advantage over his key dangers, and he has trialled well leading into this assignment. The lightly raced galloper has moved well in his two heats and gone through the line full of energy, indicating that he is ready to run well fresh. Further, he was honest in his first campaign and brings a solid SP profile for this event.

Dangers: 10. Nakama is a knockout chance who had no luck last start at Kensington, and she can improve third-up. Debutante 7. Vicarious Intent has trialled well enough, giving her a solid grounding and maps favourably. 13. Keysborough will roll forward and give a sight.

How to play it: Rum Diary WIN ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 7 - 3:55PM HMA GTECH CYCLONES BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

9. Cholante, who represents value, profiles well for this assignment and looks primed to race well fresh. First-up last prep, her run was full of merit in a high-rating race at Hawkesbury, and she sprinted some of the meetings fast closing sectionals. The mare has trialled well and went through the line full of energy in her latest heat at Randwick. She has the closing speed to run over the top of her rivals and has multiple winning figures. Good each-way.

Dangers: 7. Cassiel was heavily backed on debut, and he ran time to score doing it on raw ability. He would've improved sharply from a race experience perspective and will roll forward from the inside draw. 6. Time Bandit, another runner who draws well, is in career-best form and handles all conditions. 2. Vindication is fit now and expect a positive ride.

How to play it: Cholante E/W ($8.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 8 - 4:35PM HMA WEAR SOLUTIONS BENCHMARK 64 HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

1. Disneck is 36 days between runs but follows a similar pattern to the last campaign, where he raced well second-up. The gelding had the race shape against first-up at Warwick Farm in a stronger grade, and he ran hidden closing splits in a solid time race. The claim suits, and the anticipated genuine tempo will allow him to run over the top of his rivals.

Dangers: 2. Cross Your Heart is a consistent type in career best form and has won her past two starts. The filly has a strong SP profile, gets a key tactical advantage over some of her rivals and is proven in all conditions. 12. Suprina will give a sight and 7. Zaru can sprint fresh.

How to play it: Disneck WIN ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 9 - 5:10PM HMA CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Highborn Harry had factors against last start at Gosford, and his effort was better than the formguide reads. The gelding raced keenly in the moderate tempo, had the race shape against and had to make his run through the inferior ground. Further, he sprinted to win but was swamped late by rivals in the best ground, and he battled on well for third. He only has one career win, but he can rate to win and is over the odds.

Dangers: 3. Draco's Fire won easily last start at Goulburn after leading at a very slow pace, but he responded well under pressure and did it easily. He's on an upward ratings spiral, and Zac Lloyd sticks. 1. Dunedin relished the testing conditions last start at Kembla and won with style, indicating he can step off that performance. Market watch The Professor who resumes and add 8. Professor Pickles who is a last start winner.

How to play it: Highborn Harry E/W ($7.00 TAB Fixed Odds).
