Warwick Farm Winners - Tips For Wednesday 25th September

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 2:00PM DRINKWISE PLATE (1200 METRES)

15. Silver Wedding made a nice first impression back in June on a heavy track, hitting the line from the back into third. Had support to say she’d run well and she did just that. Sat handy to win her trial recently so she may be able to use the barrier and should run well.

Dangers: 6. Dominetta hasn’t raced since January where she was a solid third behind stablemate Too Darn Lizzie at the Gold Coast. Fitter for a couple of trials and imagine gate one will be put to good use with her. Go well. 14. Polymnia has run well at both starts to date and didn’t miss by much at Wyong first-up a couple of weeks ago. Finds James McDonald and worth including in the chances. 2. Reasonable was kept solid in the market when resuming at Canterbury a month ago. Wide draw not as bad at the Farm over this trip and she’s capable of running into the finish.

How to play it: Silver Wedding WIN ($4.60 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 2:35PM KIA ORA PRAGUE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

10. Spirit Of Wealth ran right up to her price on debut racing away for an easy win at Newcastle a month ago. She showed early speed to sit outside the lead and put them away nicely. Steps up in grade but it’s only a BM68 so it’s not a huge leap and if she is above average she can win again.

Dangers: 6. Good Sort is lightly raced and broke through at Canterbury second-up last time in before chasing home Wanaruah at Rosehill. Last prep all three runs were on wet tracks. Quiet recent trial and expect her to run well. 11. Concordia Wind was always well back first-up at Warwick Farm three weeks ago but not beaten far in what’s been a good form race since. Drawn soft and JMac will mean she’ll be popular. Has claims. 2. After Match is racing well at the provincials with two wins from four this prep and was too strong at Kembla last time out. Has to be included.

How to play it: Spirit Of Wealth WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 3 - 3:10PM CASINO PRINCE @ VINERY STUD HANDICAP (2140 METRES)

3. Agita has promised a bit and might get his chance to deliver here. Had no luck at Kensington two weeks ago when a short priced favourite so being forgiving of that. Only beaten a few lengths and didn’t get a chance to wind up. Excellent prior to that and this is winnable.

Dangers: 2. Ahuriri won the St Leger at Flemington over 2800m back in April and she’s had one run since the Queensland Oaks over 1400m at Kesnington two weeks back. Wasn’t competitive at the short trip, jumps sharply in distance here but worthy of respect. 4. Alalcance is the big query first-up for 11 months and having her first Australian start. Trialled four times and a couple of those recently, blinkers on and she’s a big market watch. 1. Aristonous is back a notch in grade after a midfield finish at Rosehill behind Matusalem. Plenty of favours here with a good track and the claim, inside barrier as well. Chance to find some form.

How to play it: Agita WIN ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 4 - 3:45PM PINATUBO FIRST YEARLINGS @ DARLEY HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

2. Rock Empire bumped into a nice form race first-up when a gallant second before being too strong at Kensington two weeks ago. Sat on speed and wore down the leader suggesting a mile should suit him. Up in weight but has more upside than most and should go close.

Dangers: 5. Sweysive isn’t far off another win and was just denied in a similar race at Canterbury last week when run down by Seafall. Will be thereabouts again and looks a threat. 8. United Kingdom was first-up when beaten three lengths by Rock Empire at Kensington and was a drifter in betting there. So he’ll be fitter and gets a 2kg weight advantage so gets the chance to finish closer. 4. Groundrush also comes through the same race where he ran fifth after settling near last and making a bit of ground. Will need to find a bit more than that but from gate one gets his chance to be a little closer and that may help.

How to play it: Rock Empire WIN ($2.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 5 - 4:20PM TAB HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

9. Poppin’ Champagne won impressively at Newcastle first-up then backed it up with a game third staying at 1400m at Kensington. Hit a flat spot on the turn and looked to be battling then picked up again to be beaten under a length. Mile looks ideal and should run well.

Dangers: 3. Watch My Girl did a big job to cart the field up to the two leaders around the turn and go on and win first-up at 1300m three weeks back. Straight to a mile and draw slightly more awkward but hard to fault her. 7. Colours Of Autumn is an up and comer who was a $1.30 chance when scoring at Newcastle second-up. No doubt she’s a city winner in waiting and is well worth keeping safe. 11. Mountain Top boxed on well up in class when third behind It's A Knockout at Rosehill. Since trialled and has claims.

How to play it: Poppin’ Champagne WIN ($4.40 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 6 - 4:55PM BEST OF BORDEAUX FIRST FOALS HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

9. French Endeavour was Group 3 placed last preparation on two occasions and in her maiden win at this track she beat Stefi Magnetica so she’s a smart mare on her day. Trialled quite nicely in her latest trial and you’d be surprised if she doesn’t run well fresh.

Dangers: 10. Ravello has won twice when first-up from a spell and he found the line well behind McHale in his latest trial. Whether 1300m is sharp for him at this stage remains to be seen but has James McDonald on board and has to be respected. 4. Northern Eyes is flying at present with four wins on end and was game taking out a Midway at Randwick last time from on speed. Hard to ignore. 5. Heman resumes as a gelding having tackled a string of stakes races last time in and not measuring up. Hit the line in his trial and could show up.

How to play it: French Endeavour EACH-WAY ($6.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

French Endeavour runs fourth in a Randwick trial on September 9

Race 7 - 5:30PM JAMES SQUIRE HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

9. Opal Fields scored quite a soft first-up win at Hawkesbury over this trip. On the way up and will get every chance to measure up in a field cut apart by scratchings.

Dangers: 7. Star Act finally broke through for a maiden win at Warwick Farm back in May on a heavy track. Hasn’t been far away to date and fitter for two trials. Can show up fresh. 6. Nostalgia had every hope when resuming at Canterbury a month ago when specked in the market. Fitter and JMac rides but still needs to lift, though gets that opportunity in the small field. 2. Lovero ran well behind Bonita Queen here first-up then safely held in a Midway at Rosehill. Entitled to another chance.

How to play it: Opal Fields WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds).
