Warwick Farm Winners - Tips For Wednesday 21st December

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 2:20PM DUNDEEL AT ARROWFIELD HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

2. Flying Trapeze comes right back in grade and lands into a race that appears will set up well for him to produce his best. Not disgraced in the Golden Gift, finishing midfield coming from last, and sounded out in an easy trial win since. Hard to beat.

Dangers: 7. Just Glamourous is a $900,000 daughter of former top filly Global Glamour who has trialled up like a horse with some ability. Whether she has the speed to get across remains to be seen but keeping her very safe. 5. Royal Entrance is a Snitzel colt who sold for $425,000 and a stablemate to Just Glamourous. Seems to have improved with each trial and has the benefit of barrier one. Expect he will run well. 3. He’s All Style from the Snowden stable is another on debut with a couple of trials under his belt. Both have been fine, in top yard and no surprise if he shows up.

How to play it: Flying Trapeze WIN ($3.70 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Flying Trapeze wins a trial at Hawkesbury on November 28

Race 2 - 2:55PM RANVET PLATE (1300 METRES)

8. Step Aside is a short priced favourite on debut on the strength of two reasonably soft trial wins in the past month. Looked to have a bit in hand in the latest at Rosehill and finds James McDonald to ride as he did in the first trial. If there’s any more in the locker he’ll take beating.

Dangers: 4. Ocean Honour is also on debut for the Waller stable and he didn’t lose any admirers going stride for stride with Step Aside in the latest trial, beaten a neck. Has the soft draw and it wouldn’t surprise if he proved very competitive with his stablemate. 6. Romeo’s Choice has put a couple of handy efforts together on the pace for placings at Hawkesbury last month and over 1100m here two weeks ago. Each-way claims. 1. Bo Bo Beware started big odds at his only outing at Kensington back in June and worked home into third along the fence. Close up in latest trial and the 1300m fresh should suit. Has a show.

How to play it: Step Aside WIN ($1.80 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Race 3 - 3:30PM HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

4. Fielding has to be fitter for a narrow first-up defeat here three weeks ago and the form has been confirmed by the winner scoring again since. Down 2kg and should get the last shot at them from off the pace. Go well.

Dangers: 2. Hardware Lane won three from seven last time in all on heavy tracks and he showed his readiness with an easy Albury trial win recently. He’s an up and comer who will be well found with JMac taking the ride and if he can convert his form to a good track he’ll be right in the finish. 3. Cotton Fingers won first-up last prep at 1250m on a heavy track and did race well after that before failing at Randwick in August. Gelded since and he could jump out of the ground. 6. Vegas Raider was beaten a length by With Your Blessing first-up then again not far off them in this grade two weeks ago. Worth some thought.

How to play it: Fielding WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Fielding runs second at Warwick Farm on November 23

Race 4 - 4:05PM EXCEEDANCE'S FIRST YEARLINGS HANDICAP (2200 METRES)

6. Villaden might get a few favours in a wide open race. Bounced back from a failure as favourite at Rosehill with a solid second at Kensington over 1800m. Draws to get a soft run and entitled to be in the finish somewhere.

Dangers: 1. Socrates is a brave on pacer who battled on strongly to hold third at Canterbury over 1900m last time out. Placed in the Taree Cup prior and back in class here. Big weight but sure to give a good account. 9. Do Well Legend is getting fitter for three runs back from a spell and while runner-up in a small field at Gosford third-up is likely looking for the extra ground. Each-way chance. 2. Lord Desanimaux bobs up now and then and is always one to throw in the multiples. He worked home from last without threatening here last start, comes back a notch in grade and is in the mix as usual.

How to play it: Villaden E/W ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Villaden runs second at Kensington on December 2

Race 5 - 4:40PM CHC'S REVOLUTIONARY MISS HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Duke Of Buckingham was dominant when he scored over this course two weeks ago and while up 2.5kg there’s every reason to think he can repeat. Draws to get a nice run again in a race with a bit of likely tempo and will be hard to hold out.

Dangers: 4. Taraashoq has a 2kg weight turnaround on Duke Of Buckingham for that clash where he led and was run down. Seemed to have his chance in front that day but will be up there again and if it’s the right form line he’ll give a good sight. 7. Modern Millie has only won once in 20 starts but she’s been right in the finish of her last couple and was only tipped out on the line at Canterbury last time out. Comes back in grade and is one of the chances. 3. Too Much Caviar should be ready to show his best now after three runs back and he went down fighting in the Nowra Cup after racing on speed. A month between runs going into that too. Definite chance.

How to play it: Duke Of Buckingham WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Duke Of Buckingham wins at Warwick Farm on December 7

Race 6 - 5:15PM TOO DARN HOT YEARLINGS HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

6. De An Andretti showed so much promise when she debuted with a slashing win back in April last year then started favourite in a G2 at her only other start. Off the scene for 15 months but trialled in June and again twice in the past three weeks. Drawn perfectly and she can win first-up. Read trainer Ron Quinton's comments here.

Dangers: 13. Juniquera is another promising type who hasn’t raced since scoring on debut at Hawkesbury in April. Also trialled on two occasions and commands respect with James McDonald on her back. Not concerned about the wide gate at this start point. 10. Tashi has been handy in two runs back from a break and stuck on well to place behind Felix Majestic in a fast run race at Rosehill a couple of weeks back. Only has to hold form to be in the finish again 4. Bitcoin Baby is a capable type who didn’t really come up last time in, a third at Randwick in June her best performance. If she can find her best she’s over the odds and could surprise.

How to play it: De An Andretti WIN ($2.60 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

De An Andretti runs second in a Randwick trial on December 10

Race 7 - 5:50PM NEW TAB APP HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

14. Comrade Rosa has proven a little costly but she’s a very backable price considering her market position in three runs back. Finished alongside Lekvarte last time and ahead of Our Modena two runs back so form is handy. Capable of breaking through with the right run especially with a few key dangers out.

Dangers: 6. Gundy Bridge came off over a year’s break to score a runaway first-up win at Kensington earlier this month and given a bit of time to get over it. Will roll forward from the gate and while up 3kg he has strong claims. 3. Byron has a great record and is racing in top form this time in, leading all the way to take out a Midway at Rosehill last time out. Can give a sight. 8. Hollywood North had been around the mark before starting double figures and producing a big finish to score at Kensington in this class. Back 100m not ideal but has to be thrown in.

How to play it: Comrade Rosa E/W ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Comrade Rosa runs third at Kensington on December 2
