Warwick Farm Winners - Tips For Wednesday 1st June

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Warwick Farm meeting. Selections based on a heavy track.

Race 1 - 12:50PM CHINA HORSE CLUB'S THE CHASE HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Lady Fraulein has looked very good at the trials since returning for her second preparation. Failed at her only start back in September but with that bit of time and three nice trials heading into a first-up run she looks hard to beat.

Dangers: 8. Pretty Wild is harder to read on her recent trials but what can be said is she hasn’t been obviously tested out at all in her two hitouts in May. Respect any betting move with JMac taking the race day ride. 3. Regal Pom was beaten as an odds on favourite at his last four runs before a spell up to 1900m. Looked a bit sharp in his only trial leading into a return and while he is well exposed he should be competitive fresh. 6. Glacier Queen found the line okay first-up at 1100m at Hawkesbury and does have that race fitness on her side.

How to play it: Lady Fraulein WIN ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 2 - 1:25PM TAB HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

5. Kibou had all sorts of excuses for his only start in the Breeders Plate where he was a $5 chance and didn’t do a bad job considering to be beaten five lengths. Gelded, he’s looked the part in a couple of trials and if he runs up to them he’ll take catching.

Dangers: 8. Secret Revolution was extremely unlucky first-up at Kensington two weeks ago and did a super job to run into third after being badly held up. If he can bounce off that and improve he’s a major player here. 1. Contemporary has some talent and gets the blinkers on here after an even effort fresh behind Resonator at Gosford where he had some support in betting. Worth each-way thought. 18. Cappelletti has trialled impressively with two easy wins since joining the Ryan/Alexiou yard. Keep safe.

How to play it: Kibou WIN ($3.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Kibou wins a trial at Randwick on May 16

Race 3 - 2:00PM THE AGENCY HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

1. Villeins is very close to a win based on what he’s showing of late and with only a very small field here will have a big chance. Liked his last effort at Canterbury where he chased the winner strongly and pulled away from the rest. Trip suits. Go well.

Dangers: 5. Mystic Mermaid comes through the same race and it’s fair to say she had every chance in a safely held third. This will be a different contest and meets the runner-up 1kg better so will have her chance to turn the tables. 6. Concordia ran fourth in the same event and she was a bit plain late. Again, only a few rivals here and she was first-up on that occasion so is open to improvement. 7. Perfect Point ran well at Taree two starts ago on a heavy track before battling at Muswellbrook. That shouldn’t be good enough form but in small fields you never know.

How to play it: Villeins WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Villeins runs second at Canterbury on May 4

Race 4 - 2:35PM FIRST JUSTIFY YEARLINGS HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

9. Camino Real is a real backmarker so she will be dictated to by things like tempo and pattern but she’s shown in her two runs back for closing seconds that she will be hard to beat here, especially with the race falling away a little.

Dangers: 4. Von Trapp could be a good roughie here right back in class. She wasn’t disgraced in her first-up run at Scone in Listed company and her past six starts have been in stakes grade, including a fourth in the G2 Tea Rose. 6. Sur La Mer found the line nicely when resuming over 1100m and the step up in trip is ideal at this stage. Doesn't win out of turn but this is a good chance for her. 1. Mosht Up led all the way to an easy win here back on May 11 on a heavy 10 but failed badly at Rosehill up in class after that. Likely leader and could bounce back.

How to play it: Camino Real WIN ($2.40 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Camino Real runs second at Scone on May 13

Race 5 - 3:10PM VINERY YEARLINGS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Revivalist couldn’t have been more impressive in his first-up win under 61kg on a heavy track. Narrowly beaten by a smart one at his only 1400m attempt and can only be fitter. Expecting him to be very hard to hold out.

Dangers: 9. Finepoint is the logical danger though she might be under the odds given she had her chance first-up at 1400m at Kensington and wasn’t pulling ground on the line. She is open to improvement and tactically perhaps the wide gate is a plus. Must respect. 5. Park Avenue carried the 62kg to win with ease at Scone downing Camino Real after getting a handy time of it up front. Blinkers go on, small query at 1400m at this level but will get his chance. 1. Imrahor is a big watch at his local debut for Annabel Neasham. Only the one trial leading in but kicking off at 1400m is a plus. Watch betting, no surprise to see him run well.

How to play it: Revivalist WIN ($4.20 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Revivalist wins at Newcastle on May 14

Race 6 - 3:45PM VICTOR LUDORUM @ DARLEY HANDICAP (1000 METRES)

10. Petulant was beaten by a handy one on debut then coasted to a couple of easy wins at Wyong in the summer before a break. Looked the part winning her recent trial, can lead or race handy and she’s the one to beat at her city debut.

Dangers: 9. Curtis Island is racing in super form this time in and scored a strong victory at Kensington two weeks ago when attracting some support in betting. No reason he can’t be around the mark again. 1. Never Second ran a little below expectation first-up at Gosford but it was a solid enough race won by Siege. Fitter for that, won two from three second-up so is open to some improvement. 4. Centro Storico resumes and while she's only won one from nine she was beaten 1.6 lengths by Mazu two runs back at Listed level. So she has some ability and wouldn't shock if she showed up.

How to play it: Petulant WIN ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Petulant wins a trial at Rosehill on May 20

Race 7 - 4:20PM HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

5. Baltic Coast has done nothing wrong with two solid wins from as many starts in his first local prep and looks the type to measure up. Had to do it the hard way at Scone, chasing them down with 61kg on a heavy track so he has some quality. Go well again.

Dangers: 4. Media Starguest has been typically eye-catching in his two runs back and it’d be no surprise if he was to win here having drawn nicely for a change. Gave them way too much start at Rosehill last time but hit the line. Definite chance. 1. Pecuniary Interest was a first-up winner over a mile last time in so there’s no question marks about the trip here fresh. Maybe a small query on a testing heavy track but no surprise to see him in the finish. 11. Glamour Fox ran a nice race fresh at Kensington two weeks ago and does tend to improve with racing. Handles all going and second-up over a mile on her home track is a good set up for her to run well again.

How to play it: Baltic Coast WIN ($4.00 TAB Fixed Odds). Odds & Evens: SPLIT.
