Warwick Farm Winners - Tips For Wednesday 15th March

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday's meeting at Warwick Farm. Selections based on a good to soft track.

Race 1 - 1:45PM YARRAMAN PARK HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

1. Gago was placed at his first two starts at this track then not disgraced at Canterbury where he kept coming after being shoved wide on the turn. Only query is the five weeks between runs but gets big chance in small field.

Dangers: 8. In Love And War found the line quite well late when just behind the placings at Newcastle up to 1400m. Has been competitive at this level already and may be looking for the mile now. 3. Episodic has had a month since failing at Canterbury after sitting on the speed. Placed in small fields prior and could be an improver. 5. Lasqueti Boom ran well on a heavy track first-up here then even effort when $4.20 at Newcastle in the same race as In Love And War. Has a show.

How to play it: Gago WIN ($2.50 TAB Fixed Odds) Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Race 2 - 2:20PM ARROWFIELD - A TRADITION OF GREATNESS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

6. Exceed Perfection didn’t show a whole lot in his first two trials then ran along in front and was run down by Tiz Invincible in his latest. That’s sure to attract plenty of attention now, he’s drawn well and commands respect.

Dangers: 8. Ravello comes through the same trial and he poked through from the back late in the bunch chasing the first couple. Inclined to want to keep him safe on debut. 9. Tannhauser hasn’t raced for a month since a solid first start at Canterbury where he stuck on well. Trialled since then and shapes as though the extra ground will be a plus. 3. Inhibitions was just worried out of it by Kintyre, who also lines up here, at Newcastle after leading. Wide gate this time but yet to run a bad race so worth including.

How to play it: Exceed Perfection WIN ($3.90 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Exceed Perfection runs second in a Rosehill trial on February 27

Race 3 - 2:55PM TAB PLATE (1100 METRES)

9. Golden Queen has had the misfortune of bumping into a few subsequent Group 1 winners in her five runs to date and has been competitive without winning. Again found a smart one in her latest trial. She’ll run well and a chance to break through.

Dangers: 6. Secret Revolution was placed in a maiden at Kensington in May and was rested after being run down at Muswellbrook. He’s trialled very well on two occasions leading into this and he could give a sight. 1. Boyfriend has been off the scene for almost a year with his best effort a second in the Group 2 Todman on a heavy track last year. Only one public trial and ran third in the same heat as Golden Queen. Betting a big pointer but has the form on the board. 10. La Pittrice had a tough run on debut but didn't give it up and held a respectable fourth behind Parisal. Blinkers on and kinder draw. Definite chance.

How to play it: Golden Queen WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Golden Queen runs second in a Warwick Farm trial on March 2

Race 4 - 3:30PM FURPHY HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

3. Goldman is a very interesting runner who was first-up for three months when outclassing his rivals in a BM64 over 2000m. Can only be fitter and while up in class he’s down in weight and does look promising. Can measure up.

Dangers: 1. Kirkeby seems to be a different horse this time in since he’s gone up in distance and chases a hat-trick after victories at 1800m and 2110m. Similar weight here and can’t be underestimated. 5. Oz Legend left his rivals with no excuses coming from last to win over this course three weeks ago. Shade worse off at the weights against a couple behind him but hard to ignore. 2. Tip Of The Spear was one of those and he had his chance in running second after sitting up closer to the speed. Had three Australian starts now so should be near peak fitness.

How to play it: Goldman WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: ODDS.

Goldman wins at Kembla Grange on February 23

Race 5 - 4:05PM PIERRO AT COOLMORE HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Pungo is an up and comer and his first-up win at Canterbury had plenty of merit despite the narrow margin. Did plenty of chasing proved too good. Can only be fitter and the rise in trip a plus too. Take beating.

Dangers: 6. Bitcoin Baby won first-up at this track and four runs since then have been honest. Tries the 1400m for the first time in a while but drawn well and is one of the chances. 3. Travest loves his home track and charged over the top from near last when scoring over this course two weeks ago. Up the 2kg but impossible to leave out coming off a win. 8. Alberich is a big market watch first-up since just the one spring run where he was a $3.90 chance at Rosehill and disappointed. One public trial on the synthetic. Showed enough promise in his first prep to keep him safe.

How to play it: Pungo WIN ($2.70 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Pungo wins at Canterbruy on February 24

Race 6 - 4:40PM FUJITSU GENERAL HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

4. Demiana was a beaten favourite first-up but her effort was still solid as she chased from well back to be beaten under half a length. Firmer track might assist based on her debut win. She’ll get her chance to atone.

Dangers: 7. Street Gossip comes through the same race and she will benefit from a different set up with the extra trip and the straight run to the only turn. If she can keep in touch early she will be strong late. 10. Whatsin made her run with the winner when runner-up over this course two weeks ago. The winner is smart and if she can run up to that effort she’s in the mix again. 3. Running Bear is a consistent mare and she was game in defeat in the Country Championships at Tamworth. She’ll be around the mark again.

How to play it: Demiana WIN ($2.90 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: SPLIT.

Demiana runs second at Canterbury on February 24

Race 7 - 5:15PM VINERY YEARLINGS HANDICAP (1100 METRES)

10. Rita May has been super in two runs back from a spell at 1000m and is ready for slightly further here. She kept coming after a wide run at Kensington second-up and she is a good each-way chance.

Dangers: 12. Wild Botanica hasn’t raced since taking on a Listed race in October and ran a nice second at Rosehill before that. Fitter for two trials, drawn well and while yet to win fresh she can run a cheeky race. 1. Tucson Valley will look to lead and give a sight as usual. Had the same weight when run down by Miss Kojiki at Canterbury second-up. Fitter and will be competitive. 7. Lascars finished just ahead of Rita May when he finished third at Kensington as equal favourite. Had his chance in both recent runs and will get another from the inside gate so can’t leave him out.

How to play it: Rita May WIN ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Rita May runs fifth at Kensington on February 15

Race 8 - 5:50PM CHINA HORSE CLUB HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

2. Destination is racing well in some pretty handy fields of late and was a bit unlucky beaten a length at Canterbury last time. His second to Spacewalk three back is good form for this and he’s sure to run his usual honest race.

Dangers: 12. Invincible Vision did a big job to hold on and lead all the way first-up from about 16 months off the scene. Fitter for it and three weeks between runs suits. Sure to be on pace again and hard to run down. 9. Billiondollarbaby ran well first-up and has been okay in some strong company since then. Ran on well without threatening behind Parisal at Rosehill last month. Nice draw for her to get cover and come with a late burst. 6. The Big Easy is much better suited coming back to this trip after a battling fourth over 1400m a month ago. Can be a bit in and out but is capable of showing up here.

How to play it: Destination E/W ($8.50 TAB Fixed Odds); Odds & Evens: EVENS.

Destination runs third at Canterbury on February 24
