Racing NSW has been informed of the passing of Mr John ‘Doc’ Halliday over the weekend.
Aged 81, Mr Halliday passed away at John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle after a short illness.
Formerly of Merrylands before retiring to Swansea, Mr Halliday was a friend to many in racing, particularly Warwick Farm racing folk.
‘Doc’ was a popular and respected clocker at Warwick Farm for many years and took great pride in his accuracy and personal rating of horses.
A keen Parramatta Eels supporter and angler, he was particularly fond of the Max Wiggins-trained speedster Show County.
‘Doc’ rated Show County the quickest horse he had timed at Warwick Farm.
In a twist of fate last Saturday, Buenos Noches won the 30th running of the Show County Quality (1200m) at Royal Randwick.
