A 4kg weight rise is less a concern for Mirra View, according to co-trainer Paul Snowden, than the lack of rain around as the in-form mare attempts to repeat her impressive last start win at Rosehill on Saturday.

Snowden said everything except the good 4 track rating, because in an ideal world she appreciates a forgiving surface, is tailor made for the four-year-old in the Fujitsu Airstage Handicap (1300m).

While she was narrowly beaten on a December good 3 before a spell, Mirra View showed in her runaway Randwick win two weeks ago what that little bit of cushion does for her.

“She’s drawn a good gate so she stalks a good speed, she likes those conditions and she gets that on Saturday,’’ he said.

“The firmness of the track is probably more of a concern than the weight.

“She is better with the sting out of the ground, her form suggests that, she’s in at the right time of the year but we haven’t had any rain about.

“She’s an honest mare, tries very hard, and she’s in a winnable race.”

Reece Jones was able to claim 1.5kg when Mirra View, $7 with TAB on Thursday in a wide market, won over 1400m three weeks ago, the apprentice has since lost his allowance so the mare’s weight rise is a little more pronounced.

But Snowden said the way the race appears it will unfold for her from barrier three there’s every reason to hope, even on good ground, she’ll stretch out in similar fashion.

“I think it’s a bit of a carbon copy, if she can run up to her last start win she definitely holds herself in a good position to run well again,’’ he said.

“She’s always had that talent, was a very immature filly early on and she’s been given time to get to where she is today.”

Expect to see Jones come back a pair or two on Touristic when they go around in the Racing For Good On July 29 Handicap (1800m) after the import put in a slightly flat second-up run.

Snowden believes the way the gelding’s race panned out at Warwick Farm last start didn’t suit his style but he still battled on to run fourth over a mile and he’s somewhat bullish about his chances.

“I just think he was ridden a touch close the other day and it sort of took away his finish,’’ Snowden said.

“Off that good draw we can be, not conservative, a little more relaxed in our manner of where we need to have him off that good draw.

“Gelding him after last prep has been the making of him, he’s lighter on his feet and much sharper at home.”

Meanwhile, stable star Mazu arrived back at Snowden HQ on Wednesday to begin preparations for his second Everest campaign.

Snowden said the rising five-year-old, who ran third behind Giga Kick in the 2022 TAB Everest, will spend about two weeks on the treadmill before going under saddle.
