Rosehill Winners - Tips For Wednesday 27th September

By Ray Hickson

Tips and race by race preview by Ray Hickson for Wednesday’s Rosehill meeting. Selections based on a good track.

Race 1 - 2:00PM TAB WE'RE ON HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

7. Arctic Glamour just needs to be in touch on the home turn and she should be hard to hold out after two eye-catching placings back in June. Finished strongly in both. Plenty to like about her trial win last week and she should take beating.

Dangers: 13. Pipistrelle is another debutant and she’s also trialled nicely leading into her first start. The Godolphin filly moved well to win the latest at Hawkesbury, not sure what was behind her but have to include in the chances. 3. Groundrush has recent racing through a solid debut third behind Lost at Canterbury two weeks ago. Any improvement could see him right in the finish again. 14. Heaven Bound might be one at odds for trifectas. Made late ground on debut back in May then in her trial again settled well back and worked home. Could run into a placing.

How to play it: Arctic Glamour WIN ($2.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Race 2 - 2:35PM ACY SECURITIES PLATE (1400 METRES)

12. Broadcaster went around at odds-on when beaten into third place at Hawkesbury at her second start. Never really got into the race there but up an extra 100m if she can hold a position she’s a chance to atone at a much better price.

Dangers: 11. Autumnation ran up to win at Newcastle at her third race start and was just out-dashed by one sneaking up on the inside. Draws a lot better this time so may not have to do so much work. Each-way claims. 2. Kaizad wasn’t fancied in betting first-up but gave a big sight in front before being edged out late by Makarena at Canterbury. Goes forward again here and could take running down if gets control. 4. Kirikan is a big market watch. Down from Queensland where he was solid on debut then safely held in a Listed race in June. Gelded and trialled up north. James McDonald rides from gate one. Keep safe.

How to play it: Broadcaster E/W ($6.00 TAB Fixed Odds).

Broadcaster runs third at Hawkesbury on September 7

Race 3 - 3:10PM PAULELE @ DARLEY HANDICAP (2400 METRES)

1. Nordic Pride won twice at Wagga on heavy tracks before a very sound second over this course on a good track earlier this month. Looked to lose a bit of concentration early in the straight but was strong on the line. Claim and small field suits. Go well.

Dangers: 4. Karmazone comes through the same race and he worked to the line as he usually does into third, about a length from Nordic Prince. Been a little while between wins now for him and that’s the only real concern. Should be competitive. 7. Only Love is up from Victoria where she’s shown some staying promise but does have a negative racing style. Wasn’t able to reel them in at Geelong last time, whether the blinkers help could be key. 5. Apache Belle has been a bit hit and miss but she was certainly dominant in scoring over 2300m at Newcastle last time out. Has won up to 2900m and if she repeats her last effort she’s some chance.

How to play it: Nordic Pride WIN ($3.10 TAB Fixed Odds).

Nordic Pride runs second at Rosehill on September 9

Race 4 - 3:45PM JAMES SQUIRE HANDICAP (1800 METRES)

5. Hemsworth sat handy and fought on very well to go down narrowly at Canterbury two weeks ago. Sure to get a kind run again from the inside alley and only has to hold his form to be in the finish somewhere again.

Dangers: 7. Riff Rocket is lightly raced and fought hard to score narrowly at Kembla first-up over 1500m two weeks ago. On the up and well worth including. 8. Snowman ran second in that race at Kembla where he started favourite. Was coming back 100m there so the step back up in trip might be in his favour. Has a show. 3. Vincenzo has hit form of late with a couple of Kembla wins and a solid third at Wyong. Back 300m but racing to well to leave out.

How to play it: Hemsworth E/W ($7.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Hemsworth runs second at Canterbury on September 13

Race 5 - 4:20PM TOYOTA FORKLIFTS HANDICAP (1400 METRES)

7. Carrazana looks an exciting type and while he disappointed a little on debut he bounced back quickly to post a dominant Kensington win last month. Kept on the fresh side, wouldn’t surprise if there’s a stakes target in sight, and if he runs up to his second start he’ll win again.

Dangers: 5. Iron Man is no slouch and might have hit the front a touch soon when run down late first-up at Rosehill in a Midway. Better for the run and 1400m suits at this stage. Will be very competitive. 8. McHale settled well back and made some nice late ground when resuming at Canterbury. Small drifter in betting there and likely will appreciate the extra ground. Open to improvement. 6. Whinchat hasn’t raced for over a month since a dominant all the way win at Canterbury over 1250m. Trialled well behind Rediener since then. On pacer who can’t be overlooked.

How to play it: Carrazana WIN ($1.90 TAB Fixed Odds).

Carrazana wins at Kensington on August 23

Race 6 - 4:55PM KIA HANDICAP (1300 METRES)

9. Sequestered showed a heap of promise last time in with a couple of impressive provincial wins that saw her start a short priced favourite in the G2 Adrian Knox. She didn’t run the 2000m out on the heavy there. She’s trialled quite well leading in and expect she’ll be in the finish.

Dangers: 5. Allasandra came through the grades quickly last time in as well with three straight including one in this class. Sound when runner-up before a spell to an in-form mare. Nice easy trial leading in and she can run well fresh. 6. Smart Little Miss is rarely far away but does tend to find one or two better. Latest hit the line well into third behind Strombus at Kensington a month ago. Each-way. 2. Diamond Model has her first start for Mark Minervini and was consistent enough in Victoria prior to making the switch. Nice little trial effort at Wyong recently and she could surprise.

How to play it: Sequestered WIN ($3.30 TAB Fixed Odds).

Sequestered wins a Hawkesbury trial on September 11

Race 7 - 5:30PM PRECISE AIR HANDICAP (1200 METRES)

6. Felix Majestic stormed home from the back in a nice first-up effort at Canterbury, running a close fourth over 1100m. Was a winner in this grade back in December over this course and if he can find a more forward position he’s a good each-way chance.

Dangers: 3. Shipshape enjoyed a good preparation in the autumn and not raced since unplaced as favourite at Randwick in May. Fitter for a couple of trials, not sure how to read the latest but drawn well and any support would be a good pointer. 5. Ithadtobezou hasn’t raced since a midfield finish at Scone in Listed company. Form at benchmark level last time in was strong, she won a trial a few weeks ago but was a late scratching at the gates from her planned resumption. Capable of showing up. 14. Untouchable Legend disappointed when favourite at Canterbury last time, she was never a factor after getting back. Draws kindly here and worth another chance.

How to play it: Felix Majestic E/W ($5.50 TAB Fixed Odds).

Felix Majestic runs fourth at Canterbury on September 13
