Removal Of Blinkers – Maurice’s Medad (Newcastle, Saturday)

Racing NSW Stewards have permitted trainer Bjorn Baker to rescind the gear change submitted for MAURICE’S MEDAD, adding blinkers to the gear of the gelding which is an acceptor for Race 6 at Newcastle on Saturday.

Approval was given on the basis that Mr Baker indicated Maurice’s Medad went too keenly and refused to settle in its final piece of work this morning when wearing blinkers. Mr Baker submitted that with the gelding stepping up in distance to 1800m he is concerned the application of blinkers may cause it to overrace.

Accordingly, Maurice’s Medad will not be wearing any declared gear.
