Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Royal Randwick 11th June

Could this preparation be the making of the John O’Shea trained galloper Waihaha Falls after a dominant display on Saturday at Royal Randwick?

The four-year-old may have had every chance in the run, but the merit of his performance was backed up on the clock. Further, he produced a clear career peak figure and won the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1200m) by 3.15 lengths in style.

Expect this form reference to hold up, and the decisive margins confirm the quality.

Punter’s Intelligence recorded an overall time of 1:10.61, approximately 7.5 lengths quicker than the Midway Handicap (1200m).

Additionally, the race produced a high last sectional rating relative to the day, and the gelding went through the line full of energy, running one of the fastest final 200m splits of the entire meeting in 11.52.

He is one to follow throughout winter and expect him to improve again over further distance.

Fastconi was outstanding in defeat after getting too far back due to being restrained early from a wide draw. The four-year-old gelding ran one of the quickest 600m sectionals of the day in 33.58 and is ready to win.

Tamerlane was honest first-up and will undoubtedly be fitter/suited over further distance next start. Similarly, Le Vizir was checked/blocked at a critical stage, losing momentum and he tried hard in defeat.

Although the 1000m chute only has one turn before entering the final straight Easy Single had to cover significant extra ground throughout and raced four-wide the entire trip in the Benchmark 78 Handicap (1000m).

The consistent four-year-old just missed in a photo finish and recorded the fastest last 600m of the entire meeting in 33.46.

Seige was given a perfect ride to win from jockey Chad Schofield and she hit the line to run the quickest last 200m of the day in 11.39.

Frankie Pinot had too much to do in the Benchmark 94 Handicap (1300m) after getting too far back in the big field and wasn’t suited by a moderate pace.

The Tony & Calvin McEvoy trained gelding also had to make his run through the inferior ground whilst carrying 60kg even after the claim for apprentice Tyler Schiller. In addition, despite factors against him, he was strong over the concluding stages and clocked the race fastest last 200m in 11.76.

Lord Ardmore returned well and looks set to win a race or two this preparation over further distance.

Kanazawa got too far back in a very slow tempo and ran on into third place when competing in the Chandon Handicap (1400m).

The three-year-old gelding had to make a long-wide sustained run and ran the clear quickest 800m-200m split of the race in 35.08 before peaking over the final furlong.

He can settle much closer from a kinder draw next start and is ready to win/peak third-up.

Beaufort Park was specked throughout betting all week and ran a strong race after also being unsuited by the pace. Further, he ran the race fastest final 200m in 11.78.

Blesk and Marnix were both honest and raced in the inferior ground.

It’s worth noting two-year-old Midnight In Tokyo, 35 days between runs, whose effort had hidden merit. The Kacy Fogden trained filly had the pace/bias against and will undoubtedly develop with the extra race experience.

Fastest last 600m: Easy Single 33.46.
