Punter's Intelligence Wrap - Rosehill 22nd July

Barbie's Fox almost became a victim of circumstances again, but she overcame difficulties to score in the Winter Challenge (1500m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.

The race was run at a moderate tempo with Resonator leading the field up, and Punter's Intelligence recorded his first 900m was in 54.42.

Barbie's Fox was blocked for a run at a critical stage, but once jockey Zac Lloyd got her into clear air, she accelerated hard and showed a strong closing speed.

The six-year-old ran over the top of her rivals and clocked the seventh fastest final 200m split of the meeting in 11.19. She is a mare in career-best form with a sharp turn of foot.

Hosier ran a much-improved race and was well-backed throughout the week.

The gelding was well-ridden, sprinted the equal fastest 400m-200m race split in 11.07, and was honest in defeat. He is back in form and is even more suited on rain-affected ground.

The hidden run of the race was Bonny Ezra, who wasn't suited to the race shape and got too far back.

The Chris Waller trained galloper ran the race quickest 800m-200m split in 33.72 and maintained a solid finishing speed to the line.

He has come back improved this prep and undoubtedly has a win in him this campaign with a more positive setup.

Waverider Buoy is flying this preparation and was enormous in defeat in the Benchmark 78 event over 1200m.

The filly was restrained from a wide draw and got into an impossible position throughout transit in the big field with the rail out.

She made-up significant ground and flashed home to finish second whilst clocking the meeting's third-fastest final 600m in 33.27. Continue to follow her.

The Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott pair Kangaroo Court and Howgoodareyou's runs had merit in the Benchmark 72 over 1500m.

Howgoodareyou's effort in her second career start was extremely brave, and she held on for second place.

The three-year-old led at a fast tempo running her first 900m in 53.97, approximately 2.5 lengths faster than the TAB Highway (1500m) and 2.5-3 lengths quicker than the Winter Challenge (1500m).

She fought to the line and can only improve from the race experience. She is still learning but has a bright future.

Kangaroo Court won with style after sprinting through a gap and ran the race's quickest final 200m in 11.71.

The well-backed favourite Chorlton Lane ran below market expectations but did have excuses. He clocked the race's fastest final 600m in 35.11. He is still immature and can bounce back with a softer draw.

Kalino added to his dynamic first-up record with a decisive win in the final event over 1300m in the Benchmark 88.

The four-year-old stalked the farcical tempo, and whilst blocked for part of the straight, once clear, he showed a turn of foot to put the race away.

He ran the sixth fastest final 600m sectional of the meeting in 33.41 and did it easily.

Woolombi is one to watch who was resuming and wasn't suited to the race shape.

She clocked the meeting's quickest final 600m/400/200m splits in 33.26/21.75/10.96. She is an improving type and has returned well.

Fastest last 600m: Woolombi 33.26 & Dragonstone 33.26
