Nash Rawiller Looking The Goods For Nathan Berry Medal

By Mark Brassel

An amazing ride by Nash Rawiller could have earned him the 2022 Nathan Berry Medal on Day 2 of The Star Championships at Royal Randwick.

Rawiller took Think It Over to near the outside fence to win the Longines Queen Elizabeth Stakes from Zaaki.

The three points puts him in the lead with just one race remaining. He has no ride in the final race of the Nathan Berry Medal (Sydney's Queen of the Turf), with Shout the Bar being scratched.

His only danger is Brenton Avdulla on Fangirl. Avdulla must win on the filly to draw level with Rawiller.

Count back rules then apply (most wins) and that would give both jockeys two wins apiece, making the Medal a tie.

Earlier, Rawiller gained three points when successful on Kinloch in a driving finish to the Polytrack Provincial-Midway Championships Final.

Avdulla then picked up two points when runner-up on Willinga Beast in the Furphy Percy Sykes Stakes.

James McDonald was on the winner Paris Dior and he now moves onto six points.

Kerrin McEvoy picked up his first points (two) by finishing second aboard Kiss Sum in the Provincial-Midway Final.
