Kia Friday Night Racing Season Prepares To Light Up This Week

Australian Turf Club’s popular Kia Friday Night Racing Season launches at Canterbury Park this week – the first of 10 meetings across spring and summer offering free entry, free family entertainment and an array of food stalls.

ATC and leading Australian cleaning, hygiene and waste management firm Quayclean will again join with charities as 12 of Sydney’s best jockeys compete across all 10 meetings in the Quayclean Night Rider Series to ultimately donate $36,500.

Jockeys will be allocated a community group or charitable cause and compete in all races on 3 points win, 2 points second and 1 point third each night until the final meeting on 28 February 2025.

On Schweppes Opening Night this Friday a draw will link each charity and jockey. The full list of charities is below.

The 12 jockeys are James McDonald, Nash Rawiller, Tyler Schiller, Jason Collett, Zac Lloyd, Rachel King, Tommy Berry, Kerrin McEvoy, Josh Parr, Tim Clark, Chad Schofield and Molly Bourke.

Jockeys with the highest totals earn their allocated causes: $10,000 (leading rider), $5,000 (second high total) $3,500 (third highest) and $2,000 for each charity of the remaining riders.

The Australian Turf Club and leading Australian cleaning and waste management firm Quayclean fund this $36,500 total in Quayclean Night Rider Series.

Australian Turf Club Head of Racing and Wagering, Nevesh Ramdhani said Kia Friday Night racing combined action on the track with Sydney’s best jockeys and trainers amid a vibrant spectator atmosphere.

“The stars of our sport will again engage with the local community and with Quayclean again raise funds for a variety of great causes across the Kia Friday Night Racing Season," Mr Ramdhani said.

“Jockeys will hold meet and greet moments with the fans each week where everyone gets up close to the action. Free entry, entertainment and the ever-popular selection of food stalls in a market atmosphere make the Kia Friday Night Racing season a Sydney racing experience like no other."

Friday’s eight-race card starts at 6pm with general admission gates opening at 5pm and a final race at 9.30pm. Full fields for the meeting are available HERE

Kia Events and Partnerships Manager Melissa Gray said: “Kia is proud to be involved with a locally renowned free community event that anyone is welcome to attend and enjoy throughout the Sydney summer.
