Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 1 $1 million Winx Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
James McDonald (Fangirl): “She dug deep today, she deserved that. Now the big boy (Anamoe) is out of the way, she’s a five-year-old, she’s fully furnished. It’s fantastic for the (owners) Inghams and it’s great to get a Group 1 on her.
“She’s such a high-class mare and she’s been working extremely well. Obviously the second horse (Princess Grace) darted up there as well and she’s a high-class mare (too). She’s been racing against the best horses for a very long time and she deserved it.”

Brett Prebble (Princess Grace): “Outstanding. She is in for a great prep. We weren’t in the best part of the track.”
Jamie Kah (Zaaki): “Great. Couldn’t fault him. He’s back better than ever.”
Nash Rawiller (Think It Over): “Fantastic return. He really chimed in like he was going to be in the finish there at the 150m and just got a little bit inconvenienced at the 100m. It was just bad timing for him when he was still building.”
Sam Clipperton (Mo'unga): “Head scratcher. Back to the drawing board.”
Jay Ford (Francesco Guardi): “He was brilliant first up. Obviously it is the start of his campaign but he closed off nicely and he will only get better as he stretches out.”
Tyler Schiller (Communist): “Tough run. Didn’t get the luck from the gate. His run was respectable.”
Chad Schofield (Golden Mile): “Travelled beautifully in a prominent position. Just didn’t find anything under pressure.”
Brenton Avdulla (Osipenko): “He was awesome. Obviously a good quality horse. Rode him quiet on the back of James and wasn’t beaten far. In for a good prep.”
Hugh Bowman (Lindermann): “He just did a bit much in the middle stages and got a bit woken up at the 1000m which was his winning chances gone. He went to the furlong and had had enough.”
Tim Clark (Major Beel): “It was a bit short for him.”
Jason Collett (Duais): “Lovely return. Only got clear air late. Was really strong through the line.”
Dylan Gibbons (Montefilia): “Enormous. Race wasn’t run for her to win. To get as close as she did it was a courageous effort.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Hinged): “Great first run back. She built through the 300m and was really good the last furlong. Really pleasing.”
Louise Day (King Colorado): “Huge run. Didn’t have a whole lot of room up the straight. Has come on really well.”
Josh Parr (Navajo Peak): “Strong through the line. Good effort.”
