A clever front-running ride from Tim Clark, making it a treble for the day, guided Egyptian Symbol to and all the way win and a reversal of fortune for a luckless first-up failure.
Find out what the jockeys made of their runs in the Group 3 Toy Show Quality (1300m) at Royal Randwick.
Tim Clark (Egyptian Symbol): “It was one of those races where there was just no speed at all. The plan wasn’t exactly to lead, just to come out and have her where she was comfortable. She can be a bit tricky so it was just a matter of letting her be where she was happy. She was probably overracing slightly but I was confident she had the best turn of foot in the race.
“She was out on her feet late but she’d just done enough.
“She is obviously a very valuable mare for Cresswick Farm. It is nice to get another Group win next to her name and another winner for Bjorn.”
All the way for Egyptian Symbol in the Toy Show
Hugh Bowman (I Am Coldplay): “Good run, first run in Australia, little keen with the blinkers but all in all very pleasing performance.”
Jason Collett (Zestful): “Just needed a bit more pressure on that leader, just couldn’t reel them in.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Luvaluva): “Good first run back, she will come on for that.”
Rachel King (Nettoyer): “Really strong run, she will be even better when she gets up over a bit further.”
Andrew Adkins (Smart Amelia): “Got back in a slowly run race and a bit hard to make ground.”
Kathy O’Hara (Insensata): “Had a good run behind the speed.”
