Jockey Quotes - The Rosebud

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Listed $200,000 Chandon Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens.

James McDonald (Tiz Invincible): “She’s a pretty placid filly in all her trials and she was barrier one and in first. I find sometimes they have a baulk at the starter which is just to her right and she just took a left step outwards and wasn’t cleanly into stride.

“She started to truck up pretty strongly, she hasn’t shown that in her trials so it caught me by surprise and then she had to make her way out and she knuckled down with a huge weight.

“It’s a hard one with her (how far she will get). Being a three-year-old filly she will stretch further but probably as a later mare she will get faster.

“Off her trials I thought she was a miler, off today I think she’s a faster horse.”

Tim Clark (Introducing): “Strong first up performance. He fought on well.”

Adam Hyeronimus (The Instructor): “He has come back well. Just knocked up the last 50m with a big weight.”

Robbie Dolan (Fire Lane): “She has come back in really good order. She should be in for a good campaign.”

Jason Collett (Cigar Flick): “Great run. Had to give them a start from that barrier. Very good.”

Rachel King (Infatuation): “Much improved effort from her first up run.”

Kerrin McEvoy (Roussillon): “Nice run. He is obviously eligible for easier races. He’s put forward a nice effort there. Another 100m is going to help him.”

Tyler Schiller (Griff): “He is still learning his craft. I thought he was really strong late. Just needs to get his racing right. I think he is going to be a lovely colt.”
