Jockey Quotes - The Big Dance

Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $3,000,000 Big Dance (1600m) at Royal Randwick.

Regan Bayliss (Attractable): “I came and galloped this horse on Friday morning at Wyong and she honestly had it trained to the absolute minute. It looked so well, gave me a good feel on Friday and knew he was going to be very hard to beat today. The race set up beautifully for him and he’s as tough as nails.

“I knew we were rolling out in front. I gave him a little niggle at the top of the straight and he went straight past the leader and once he hits the front, he’s a hard horse to peg back. He was tough right through the line and it’s a great result.”

Attractable wins the Big Dance

Nash Rawiller (Cepheus): “It was a real race, genuinely run. My bloke had a perfect run. He gave his all and loved the way he dug at the 100m to try and win it. Really felt the pinch the last 50m but couldn’t be more proud of the horse.”

Andrew Adkins (Super Helpful): “Very tough effort. Gallant and I was happy to run third.”

Jean Van Overmeire (Banju): “A lot smoother run today. Got a bit tired the last bit.”

Tommy Berry (Wicklow): “We followed the second horse but I can’t offer an explanation for his performance.”

Adam Hyeronimus (Superium): “Horse went great.”

Reece Jones (Commando Hunt): “Plain run and never really stretched out comfortably. Disappointing.”

Chad Schofield (Akasawa): “From barrier 18 we just never really got into a good position.”

Tyler Schiller (Iknowastar): “Has probably come towards the end of its prep. The start probably cost it a little bit as we had to make use of him a bit.”

Tom Sherry (Camaguey): “Ran super. Unfortunate about the barrier but very happy with his effort.”

Jason Collett (Hollywood Hero): “He worked home beating some tired runners. Just too big a start from that barrier.”

Adin Thompson (Full Press): “Ran super. Probably a little bit above its grade.”

Kathy O'Hara (King Of The Castle): “Very honest run. Maybe a slightly softer draw might have made a difference.”

Jay Ford (Wategos): “He was honest. Had a long prep and probably looking for a break.”

Jake Duffy (Prince Of Helena): “Took an awkward step out of the gates and just never really recovered from that. A bit disappointing.”

Brock Ryan (Highlights): “Was at his top a long way out. Probably did well to finish where he did.”

Grant Buckley (High Court): “He has had a little bit of racing and raced a little bit flat today.”

Anna Roper (Unamerican): “Needs more ground just couldn’t keep up the whole way.”

Molly Bourke (Crackalacka): “Just a bit flat today after the back up but ran a tough race.”

Quayde Krogh (Manderboss): “Very disappointing. Never travelled any stage of the race and raced liked a tired horse.”
