Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the Group 2 $250,000 Darley Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) at Royal Randwick.
James McDonald (Zougotcha): “I had a few thoughts going through my head when she was a bit fractious in the stalls and she’s come our half-a-length slower than anticipated but the thing is she’s such an enthusiastic, tenacious filly who bustles her way through anything and we got lucky that we have a good barrier and were able to bustle into a spot.
“She switched off well when we got into a nice rhythm and then she fought them off at the furlong. She had to be good today.
“Ridden accordingly she’ll be spot on but you’ve got to remember she’s had a month between runs and she can only improve and I have no doubts that the mile will be up her alley.”

Tommy Berry (Madame Pommery): “She draws a gate she almost wins. I thought I was the winner half way up the straight but James’ horse was floating a little bit. When I got to him she fought hard. A good solid performance heading to the Flight Stakes.”
Jason Collett (Wolverine): “Held up a touch at the furlong.”
Tim Clark (North Star Lass): “A good strong on-pace performance from her again.”
Hugh Bowman (Willinga Beast): “She just found the 1400m a bit far.”
Josh Parr (Seven Veils): “Too bad to be true.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Grace's Secret): “She travelled well. She got some cover but just didn’t let go in that ground. So you’d like to think she’d improve on dry ground.”
Sam Clipperton (Pantonario): “Not sure what is happening with her. The last furlong I ended up pulling her up. I was just a bit concerned for her. Just got to see how she pulls up.”
Rachel King (Renaissance Woman): “Really super run. She is going to be a lovely filly when she gets up over 2000m.”
Andrew Adkins (Ningaloo Star): “She was there to the furlong but outclassed the last little bit.”
William Pike (Byron Belle): “Actually a really nice run.”
