Find out what the jockeys made of their mounts after the $1,000,000 Silver Eagle (1300m) at Royal Randwick.
Nash Rawiller (Vilana): “He did a little bit to get to his position. To his credit he is just so push-button, he switched off straight away. He got into a beautiful rhythm down the side. Obviously his grand final (Golden Eagle) is in a couple of weeks’ time.”
Darren (Beadman - stable representative) said he’s not at peak fitness just yet, just wait on him a little bit and be a bit patient. And he showed an enormous turn of foot when I produced him.”
He just feels a lovely horse. I don’t think he’s really flown under the radar, maybe the Queensland form was a little bit underestimated but he’s done nothing wrong, he just feels like he’s on the way up. He can go a fair way this horse.”
“A couple of weeks’ time it’s going to be right up his alley. Unless James (Cummings) decides not to (go to the Golden Eagle), but at this stage he’s done everything right. He was a bit soft going into today and that gallop will bring him right on and I’m sure he’ll be very competitive.”

Brenton Avdulla (Mr Mozart): “He was awesome. If anything probably the week off hurt his chances a little bit. He would have been better suited at 1300 back that last week, drawing wide and rolling forward. Today he raced fresh from the low draw. The run he had to have for two weeks time.”
Rachel King (Brigantine): “Really happy with his run. He hit a little flat spot up the straight but was super late.”
Damian Lane (Startantes): “Never finished off like she can today.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Kiss Sum): “He ran great. Just got tightened up at the half mile. Just had to shuffle back a bit. If he gets a spot in the Golden Eagle he’ll run well.”
Keagan Latham (Flying Crazy): “I think a good effort. Wanted more a solid tempo but has run on quite nicely.”
Jay Ford (Ranch Hand): “He ran a much improved race with the shades put on.”
William Pike (Loch Eagle): “The track was too shifty for him. He never got comfortable.”
Hugh Bowman (Waterford): “I thought he went well. The race didn’t pan out well for him. He was good.”
Tom Sherry (Cotehele): “Brilliant run. It was his first run back from a spell. He let down like the winner but just got a bit tired late. Good improvement to come.”
Jim Byrne (Tonneofgrit): “He raced well. Slow tempo so didn’t favour him.”
Sam Clipperton (Lavish Girl): “She was very brave. I just had to do too much work from a wide draw.”
Dylan Gibbons (Global Ausbred): “Some run. From a Queensland Derby campaign he’s come back in terrific order.”
